1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of “discuss” rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This isn't an advice forum

Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with “So” - starting a post with pointless phrases, like “I hope this is allowed” or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

I've been on the hunt for the perfect bag for my daily use of carrying my laptop and camera to and from work.

I found this old rei bag this weekend with the 25% off goodwill sale for July 4 so it cost me 9 bucks

Took it home and washed it in the sink with a brush and soap

Then tossed it in with a load of laundry for a second wash

The laptop pouch doesnt fit my laptop but it fits in there next to my soft pouch for my camera and headphones so its alright

This is a follow up to a post from a little while ago about stopping the microwave at just the right time to stop the awful beeping when the time is up. Some gentlemen expressed concern with the ramifications of this depending on how exactly I did it. This is a demonstration of my technique.

Shading the condenser unit keeps it cooler and increases it's efficiency and helps keeps my electricity costs down. The sail is high enough and mesh like so that it doesn't trap the hot air. In fact it creates a slight wind tunnel effect. The shade it provides lasts during the hottest part of the day and a tree helpfully blocks the sun for the remainder. The unit is never in full sun this way. Keeping the weeds and other debris away from the unit so that it gets good airflow and cleaning the condenser every year also help with the units efficiency.

Thought I'd change things up a little. It's nice.

It's 400GB. I consider it my duty to perma-seed the data (as exposed by Unicorn Riot) to out nazis in the USA. I only find people downloading it on occassion, but it always makes me happy when it happens.

And getting enraged at the pervasive utter dearth of urgency I was seeing.

Also I’m recommending one dude get fired. It gives me no pleasure, he keeps doubling down on the terrible behavior to the point where he is actively impeding progress to an extent that finally outweighs the value of the his positive contributions. I’ve been workouts around him for two moths now. I’m at a loss. I just don’t see any other way.

I just wanna unmute my mic and ask, "Can we please be done?!"

We're usually done in about five to ten minutes. I hate today.

I know this isn't the typical content, but I checked the rules. I think this is allowed.

One person who is responsible for some of the stuff said they didn't have anything to discuss. The person who runs the meeting said the same. The meeting was called the shortest meeting we've ever had and I'm free to keep posting on Lemmy rather than having to listen half-heartedly in case anyone needed my input (they never do).

It sucks. At least it’s not scorchingly hot and humid today though.

Aliexpress having a summer sale, I might as well grab a couple cables to replace my bedside one and one that'll live in my bag.

It had been 30 days, so I was in the clear

It’s a Brother P-touch Cube Plus. I am pleased, but certainly not to an exciting degree.

I've been doing daily sauna for a month or two now. Feels great ...

80C for 20m every day...

Now the coating in my glasses is melting and everything is a blur of bright lights.

Need to get the rest of the coating off, or get new glasses.

My son wanted Mario and my daughter wanted foxes. I thought my solution tying them together was clever, but no one at the party seemed sufficiently impressed.

edit: I should have specified, these are mini sandwiches, not cookies. The colors are from food dye markers.

That's pretty much it. I love it.

I've been making bread at home since covid. Used my Kitchen Aid stand mixer with the dough hook until now, but that always left a huge mess to clean up. Now I prep a week's worth of dry ingredients in ziplock bags and only have to clean up one mess. I use butter powder rather than regular, and that makes things super convenient.

Before I go to bed, I dump in the water and one of the ziplock bags, set the timer, and have fresh bread waiting for me in the morning.

I realize this may not qualify as dull enough for this community. I think most people might be likely to consider my job and my team in my department to be extremely dull though so maybe this does work. Also, I am extremely dull, because I have virtually no friends and no one to tell about this and I really feel the need to tell someone because I’m absolutely killing it, nothing like this has ever happened to me before, and I’m very proud of myself, and I never thought I would get this far in life.

I just moved into this house and was back there to think about what to plant and was quite happy to find this. It's behind a big pine tree and I can't see it from the windows or patio. I was just back there a week or two ago so it was quite a surprise.

I think they came from my neighbor's yard. But the interesting part (to me) is it's the neighbor on the opposite side and there's no peonies in between.

I might get some more and turn that area into a flowerbed with some ground cover.

Reorganized my luggage packing setup. I work and live for up to a week with only carryon and small bag, without doing laundry
