That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Is there any point at which the distance becomes too large to the extreme where you basically get “deleted” from existence?

I feel like I'm in a bad rut.

My routine for the last 6 months was to exercise, run, work my core, do yoga, stretch, even do some handstands. I'd do it before having breakfast, it'd be the first thing I do after waking up. These training sessions would last anywhere from 60 minutes to 3 hours. Even if I felt tired I stick to this routine because it helps me work better (I'm a nurse, so most of my shifts I have to walk a lot anyway).

The longer I've been doing this routine, the shorter it gets on my working days: 6 months ago I would train longer than one hour and go to work, but in the last 2 weeks all I've achieved is some stretching, some running and then I just sit next to the trail and admire nature because I don't have energy to do anything else.

I don't know how big of a role temperature plays: it's almost 90 here (Farenheit) and very sunny.

Is this a phase? Is my body telling me to tone it down? Is it just the summer?

Overall I'm in better shape and have less back pain, I even walk better but I feel tired.

I remembered this old meme the other day and it got me thinking; can you actually travel to Europe as a US citizen exclusively to take advantage of the more affordable healthcare?

And if so, are they unique to the animals they live on or is it pretty much the same as ours?

I (23M) was sitting on a bench drawing and a girl sat on the same bench, then she started talking about my drawings, I said a few words about them, but I started to feel that I was getting very nervous, and after some phrases i just stood up and walked away to another part of the park. A few minutes later I saw her heading my way again. But when she saw me her face became sad and she turned around and walked back the other way. Now i feel so awful about all this ,I didn't mean for this to happen but it kinda did. I want to ask people any advice of how to overcome this fears so this is not happened again. For the context i didnt have any genuine converstation with girls in 8-9 years, and i didnt have this problem with males

EDIT: SOLVED! And good god am I dumb. Cleared cookies for YouTube. Done.

Seems like a dumb question as I'm constantly reading posts about YouTube blocking and I've been in IT for 30 years, but I'm at a complete loss.

Using uBlock Origin 1.64.0, been fine until the last week or two. Still works in Edge! But it's annoying to swap browsers back and forth and not be able to simply click a link in Firefox.

Searching the web all I get is old news, nothing about the latest fixes.

Is there something like revanced for a Windows desktop?

HI all, I'm making a game about Prometheus (the Titan who stole fire from the gods) assigning you, the player, a quest to "steal fire" from each of the 12 Olympian gods (e.g. mastery of the seas from Poseidon). I'm trying to decide whether to stick with side scrolling (where I'm comfortable in designing tilesets and player characters for) or go with top down (meaning having to learn how to design 8-way walking/attack/etc. animations and top-down tilesets)

I'm leaning more towards sticking with side-scrolling (since that is much easier for me), but what do you all think?

edit: The game will probably be a mix of exploration, puzzles, and a bit of action as well (e.g. fighting enemies, boss fights maybe?)

I'm thinking of adding lots of different symbols and references to interesting ancient greek myths I've read (e.g. how Persephone has to go between Hades and Demeter, causing a period of poor harvests when Demeter isn't with her daughter)

Also, the art will be pixel art as that's what I'm most comfortable with

edit 2: I'll be going with side-scrolling :D

There's billions of life forms on there. Say a shrimp dies and isn't eaten up or anything by scavengers, could it pickle over time? The way we pickle meats in a salt brine? The ocean is a salt brine in itself.

I’ve experienced torture, it’s essentially legal to fire me at any point for being trans (which has happened multiple times) and I’m financially fucked to the point where I am bordering homelessness.

I can teach science, math, history and have experience and certifications. I will move anywhere in the world (that is safe/has access to testosterone) to teach, as long as I can have help figuring out visas and maybe help with the cost of the plane getting there.

I’ve thought about Peace Corps, but I am concerned that the current administration will fuck with that program too.

I cook cut off a part of myself and sous vide it at my body temp and it would cook and be edible. But just existing isn't cooking me. Why???

I just feel more and more it's a cheap excuse to dismiss debate out of hand rather then confront an uncomfortable truth.

I just don't buy that anyone online cares if someone is arguing in good or bad faith

I mean, we know they can be used as evidence against you, but what if I was actually just chilling and watching Youtube videos at home? Can my spying piece of shit phone ironically save me? 🤔

I mean, even democratic countries are using mass surveillance, not just autocratic ones. So I think, just like with mass surveilance, this "Social Media Investigation" would become the next step in the evolution of how technology is used against us, every country is gonna start scanning your social media.

Politicians make the laws, if people are being oppressed, its more of the politicians being the root cause of evil.

So... ACAB + APAB?

EDIT:

I'm using these definitions for the word politician: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/politician

noun. [UK] - a member of a government or law-making organization

noun. [US] - a person who is active in politics, esp. as a job

I’m a 54-year-old man, recently separated from my wife of 31 years - just earlier this month. Honestly, I’m already feeling bored and lonely, so I’ve been considering trying out dating apps (I’ve never used one before). However, my sons (30 and 28) tell me it’s a waste of time and possibly even a scam, and I’ve seen similar opinions online. So I’m not sure what to think.

Video in question

What she says is that she got equity in the divorce, but when she graduates school, she has to refinance and then pay the equity back.

I need somebody who understands finance to help me answer these questions. Is what she is saying that she got the equity at the time divorce, then when she graduates school, she takes out a loan and uses that loan to pay the equity back to the ex-husband?

The second question: if the above is the case, and in the context of the video, if she doesn’t think he will live that long, Why would she want to forgo the alimony then?

I mean, she isn’t getting the alimony right now, but she has the equity in the house which it sounds like she got that already, if he dies early well then she just basically keeps the equity so I’m not sure why she wants to Make the change she wants to make.

I’m not looking for the emotional answers of she’s a money grabber or a horrible person or any of those sorts of answers. Because that’s not what I’m asking.

What I’m trying to understand is the financial piece of it.

Because she said she would be willing to forgo the alimony if she could just have the equity now. But it sounds like she she’s already got the equity so I’m really confused.

Can someone watch that video and try to help me understand what financial benefit she’s going after?

Seriously, I don't get it.

So I've tried Mastodon a couple times now and so far it simply doesn't click. Which is fine, it doesn't have to. But I'm thinking maybe I just don't know how to navigate the platform yet. Is it as interactive as Lemmy or is everyone kinda shouting into the void? Is there an equivalent to communities? If not, how do you find stuff you care about? And is reblogging the equivalent to upvoting? Is it like a like and share in one? Do they have memes there or what's the range of content? How does it compare to bluesky? I have used bluesky but the tone there is kinda shallow imo, rarely any meaningful interactions. I'm Gen Z so maybe I'm just not the target audience? But Idk how much that even matters.

If I wanted to ensure that my land would never be used for a shopping mall or sports stadium, but I nevertheless wanted rid of the land, could I sell it in this almost 'crowdfunded' piecemeal manner and get my money, while also making the red tape involved in consolidating all of those 1-meter-squared chunks too costly to be worth doing?

Obviously no one would want a 1m piece of land, but maybe if they were doing it for activist reasons (like how the Cards Against Humanity people bought land to prevent Trump building his wall), or even as a novelty where they could buy it for their friend as a joke gift, it might be enticing. People could have annual parties where they go to their land and place a little deckchair on it and drink beers with their 'neighbours'.

Does it actually matter whether you flirt with someone or not in order for them to (potentially) develop feelings for you? A lot of people have told me it's intrinsic, as in "If they like you, they like you." So you should just treat the person you're interested in like you would any other person.

So if it all comes down to connection and looks, doesn't that make flirting a bit redundant?

Edit: To clarify, I see flirting as banter to make sexual/romantic intentions known.

I was cleaning our a drawer and found an old cell phone with a swelling battery. I know i can't/shouldn't throw it away but because it is swollen recycling seems to be off the table as well. I found a place that would take it but they wanted $150 for the packaging to make it safe to mail.

I'm in north-west Louisiana. How do I get rid of it.

So I was just brainstorming a bit thinking of ways to earn a little extra without the responsibilities of actual employment, meaning you can do it when there's time and put it on hold if you have to. Personally I like crafting so I could imagine having something like a little etsy store. I could carve beads from wood, antler or bone and turn them into jewelry. Something like that. That wouldn't just be a way to make money but also sounds like a nice hobby. Not sure how financially feasible it would be though, maybe someone here already has some experience? But yeah I'd love to hear about your ideas/advice. Anything that's legal and not exploitative, be it entirely independent or also freelancing stuff that doesn't require special training.
