Can't wait for Trump to decide that, even though he has wailed for years about Europe spending more on military and NATO, actually that's a little too much and it threatens U.S. hegemony.
On April 1, 2025, the U.S. invaded Ukraine in order to depose of the despot Volodymyr Zelensky. The previous week, newly appointed military advisor and highly recognized (by everyone who recognized his other expert credentials, anyway) biological weapons expert Elon Musk had appeared before Congress holding up a vial of white powder, pointing out that it was produced in a Ukrainian biolab whose U.S. origins Vicoria Nuland had totally not admitted to years prior.
Russian security went into high alert, but was confused by the fact that Trump was invading in order to bring down the U.S.'s own anti-Russia regime. Russia's military operations therefore ground to an uncertain standstill. NATO expansion Mission Accomplished™?!

Definitely. True of a lot of people. Good analysis and then the prescription is revealed and its like..."we just need slightly kinder and gentler policing/concentration camps/colonies/exploitation/etc." WTF dude?!?!? So close. It was RIGHT THERE!

Stephen Cohen was a similar voice. And I think he kept Democracy Now semi-accountable on their foreign policy, at least as far as Russia was concerned. Once he died, Amy Goodman jumped fully on board the Russiagate train for a while.... But anyway, another person who was just a little too hung up on the liberalism to be able to let go that death grip (in his case, somewhat literally).

One creepy place my mind goes is...I mean, obviously this is a form of terrorism...but people just disappearing off the street is one thing, and knowing about the horrors you, too, could experience if you disappear off the street one day is another one entirely. Did the CIA actually let the leaks happen so that people could be made aware of just what U.S. "hospitality" is like? Like, you realize our outrage is part of the plan, right? type stuff. Fuckin' bleak.
For the same reason, I can't really figure out why the imprisonment and torture was indefinite. Seems like it would achieve its goals more effectively if people were released after a few years of hell-on-earth. Fascists psyching them selves out of being even more fascist in their petty racism and hate ("Can't let these TERRORISTS go!"?)?
Didn't they already admit that they determined that one to be an accident?
