This feels like reading about a boxing match, in which every hit by Thomas Hearns is covered breathlessly, while a blizzard of blows by Sugar Ray Leonard go utterly unremarked upon.

The nature of the Electoral College by way of the US Senate. This is quite literally as intended. America is a coalition of states that only really started functioning as a cohesive single unit in the wake of the Great Depression.

The fact that a handful of rural fiefdoms still command as much power as they do in the national congress is a large part of what keeps the country gelled together. If Floridians and Idahoians weren't hooked up to the Federal Cash Transfer pipeline, I suspect we'd see a lot more open reactionary insurrections as Californication of the national legislature moved the country's social policy away from its reactionary roots.

2000 years of Christianity

It should be noted that even the most orthodox Christians weren't this hung up on gender until relatively recently. Some of the earliest Christian movements were regarded by their pagan peers as horny af sex cults and you hardly have to get to The Family International or Ted Haggard/The Falwells to find instances in which Christians have made a (virtual or literal) sacrament out of sex at every point on the sexual spectrum and morality compass.

If you wanted to be particularly glib, the root idea of the modern Catholic Priesthood - one in which you take a vow of chastity and pledge yourself in a sacramental marriage to God and the Church - becomes its own sanctioned gender of sorts. You (ostensibly) separate yourself from both men and women as a kind of asexual spiritual paragon, through a ritualized transition from man to priest.

For all the perverts and freaks in the Catholic Church, I think you'd be surprised to find how many men-of-the-cloth have used it as a refuge to disguise their distinct lack of sexual appetite or gender affiliation. And it can't be ignored how these religious garments have strayed from modern gender norms, either.

To say the modern Christian faith is plagued by contradictions would be an understatement.

And yet--more people voted for her than the other guy. In any sane system that'd be a win.

I mean, I agree with this sentiment. But constantly coming back to the Democrats, when they refuse to do so much as implement DC Statehood because its just too hard!!! is fucking pathetic.

Dems don't want a sane system.

I've never lived alone and at this point I'm not sure I even could.

I've had roommates all through college and into my early career. Went from a year back home to rooming with an old high school friend. I moved in with my now-wife six months after we met, because she had started law school and couldn't afford to live alone. She was the fourth of five roommates living together before we started going our separate ways. The first was the best man at our eventual wedding.

Having roommates just feels good. I love living with other people. I love the constant opportunity to socialize. I love cooking big meals for a bunch of close friends, going to the gym together, planning vacations together, hostimg big parties with neighbors and other friends.

If you can find people you get along with, it would be crazy not to live with them.

Plenty more out of frame, but I got this shot in passing down the street. My other pictures don't look as good.

This is an unfair attack against middle class white people with long car commutes.
