A bit much to wish death on someone, but that might just be me.
Same happened with me. I blocked an instance without realizing. My guess is that it's either a bug when block instance was being implemented or I just stumbled on the wrong option, since they are close to each other.
Besides disabling gestures, another suggestion is to cache comments and the position where we were, like some reddit apps used to do (Joey for example), maybe until you refresh your feed again, or for the last couple of posts that were last opened.
So if you accidently leave, you can get back where you were.
