I work in software, and I used to look down on luddites. Then I learned what they actually stood for and now I agree with them.

the Isreali government has a long and increasing history of systematic oppression of palestinian people, both inside and outside of the occupied palestinian territories. https://www.amnesty.org/en/location/middle-east-and-north-africa/israel-and-occupied-palestinian-territories/report-israel-and-occupied-palestinian-territories/

The ruling cliques of "the west" have a vested interest in the preservation of the current Isreali state. It is a friendly and permanently embattled nation that serves to destabilize the entier region, making foriegn influence easier and keeping arms trade high.

As such, while Palestinian liberation may be supported by people, it will never be meaningfully acknowledged by governments. Palestinian opression is ignored until it results in violence. Then the response, framed by the media, is to "both sides" the problem, finally culminating in a brokered peace in which Palestinians but not the goverment of Isreal disarm in exchange for nebulous promises.

As for solidarity with Palestine, beyond words and some small material support, we in "the west" run in to the same problem as with most other issues: institutions are set up to funnel power away from the people to a small group of influential individuals, and what few parallal power structures we have built are not strong enough to challenge them yet.

Theres a lot of people that pretend the opposite, as well. We are all biased towards the thing we like. Its obvious cities are popular, because they are expensive. Its also obvious suburbs are popular, because they alsoare axpensive.

What people mostly wish is that more city could be built, becausethe demand forcity living is still highar than that for suburbs.

Brown sugar is usually manufactured by taking white sugar and adding molasses to it. you can save money by doing that yourself, plus it doesn't cake up anymore.

This policy suggestion differs from other prohibitions slightly, due to the mechanisms of addiction, and the existance of alternative nicotine delivery.

In the first factor, there is a prime age range during which addiction likelyhood is highest: ages 10 to 20. Beyond this range, succeptibility to addiction falls. By reducing the likelyhood of people in that range to encounter tobacco products, we can meaningfully reduce overall nicotine addiction inthe population.

The second factor is the existance of safer alternative nicotine delivery mechanisms. For those already addicted, more targeted mechanisms such as gum, patches, and even vaping can represent a reduced-harm alternetive to smoking.

Also, black market ciggarettes probably will be just as safe as they are now, since they will most likely be commercially produced for other countries and smuggled in. Its not like RJ Reynolds will start cutting Camels with coca leaves just cause they can't sell to 25 year olds.
