Hell yes that was an invigorating read! Those people following ICE agents around are HEROES. This also reminded me to get a megaphone.

Yeah it's called an RSS feed. Every podcast has an RSS link, and that's how your podcast app connects and gets all the episode information and the stream. Some apps may not have the podcast you're looking for in the search function (or maybe there's more than one, like an ad free stream), and you can manually add whatever podcast if you have the link.

Interestingly, YouTube channels and subreddits are also RSS feeds. There are apps that allow you to compile the links together, so all of your podcasts, YouTube subscriptions, subreddits, and many more things that you follow on the internet, could all be combined into one app/page, free of ads and other distractions and annoyances on the originating sites. I use the program FreshRSS for this exact purpose, and it's wonderful having everything I want to see combined on my home page.

I do appreciate him speed running his downfall for us. It's a few years overdue but I'll take it.

I'm so happy to get the slightest bit of good news lately. How awesome would it be if this unchecked rampant corruption and greed led to significant reforms for democracy and an era of consequences and litigation against the billionaires.

How awesome would it be if this was the collapse of capitalism in the utopia sense, as opposed to the 'end of civilization' sense. Maybe? :)

Hey man, I'm sorry you're feeling that way. I can absolutely relate to all of that. The way things are going in the world is certainly making things feel darker than ever.

If these are of any consolation I'd like to share them; they are a few realizations that I've come to over time, and that I try to bring myself back to when I start feeling those feelings:

  • I can't control the world. There are things in motion that I simply won't be able to affect, set that way long before I ever came along, and that ball will keep rolling long after I'm gone.

  • I'm not a failure for not becoming a millionaire, famous musician, successful executive; for not having the relationship I wanted by this point; for not owning a home yet; or whatever high standards I held my future self to. I know more than that person did, and that person, compared to me today, had a very naive outlook on how things will or ought to be.

  • You are up against the most advanced technologies we have ever created; the most conniving of villains; the worst pollutions; the greatest wage gap in human history; inflation is skyrocketing and unemployment is too; we are in a great recession; you have to date through apps, and we are more isolated than at any time in our history. You are not a failure for struggling against these pressures!

  • I'm going to die one day, but I'm here right now. The ride will end; I don't need to get off of it early, and I can experience things like awe and wonder while I'm here. And I can help and love people.

I am not a failure for these things. My only fault was ever thinking that I, the world, my life, should be so perfect; and even then, being wrong is expected of us. We are dreamers. Don't be so hard on yourself, you are doing so great.

You're not wrong, they are absolutely within their rights, and Skyblivion shouldn't preclude others from Oblivion projects (especially not the IP holders). But it still rubs me and others the wrong way. Bethesda doesn't need to do this; they aren't hurting for cash. It feels petty to jump on the Oblivion remaster train right as this public (free) project, that has been worked on for like a decade, is nearing the end of its production. It's just slimy behaviour from Bethesda IMO, but I will definitely give them kudos for not issuing a cease and desist.

His team over at Last Week Tonight pull lots of funny stunts like this and have made quite a few hilarious websites. I wouldn't be surprised if this one is featured on the next episode!

If anything its just another data mine for the political beliefs of potential dissidents. And before you say anything, yes, I am this much fun at parties as well

In an ironic twist of 2025 that nobody saw coming, all of Putin's "the bad guys are nazis!" rhetoric is no longer propaganda

After reading that I thought the 'HDMI Forum' was a literal internet forum of nerds who invented HDMI and didn't want to make it open source for anyone. lol.

In like the 1940s Elon Musk's grandfather was a chiropractor in Regina, Saskatchewan and was arrested by the RCMP for being a central figure in an organization that was trying to overthrow the government and install a technocracy. I'm not kidding.

After that is when he fucked off to South Africa to partake in the Apartheid.
