Seriously though, if you are cautious and stick to actual communities instead of just public or private trackers run for glam, you will usually be fine. Communities clamp down really fast if there's a report of virus etc.
The quality of releases typically is far better, since uploading crap like virus or video covered in ads is a dick move™️

Ironically I'd avoided using db0 about anything except literally you by name as to try avoiding needlessly pinging you in matrix.
My input filters down to the direct notion that while mods have leeway to best manage their comms, I feel there's at least a responsibility to also respect the immediate vicinity they are within regarding the shared nature.
Even if I wouldn't necessarily agree with reasons potentially given, if a mod or team has documented the process or line of thought somewhere (wiki?), it would be better at avoiding both confusion and a bit of the flack that could reflect upon the greater server itself.
I agree that random blocking sours the reputation.
The only thought I can conjure is perhaps a mod got pissed about a post and banned everyone from a thread, including commentators defending our even just neutrally discussing AI.
I think more detail, perhaps direct comment from the mod(s) involved, is warranted.
As to "vote manipulation", brigading or mass vote blasts are against the rules but harder to pass muster on a bit.
Again, the mod should have a chance to respond for sure.
