Regardless of what we might prefer, we're all forced to deal with capitalism until we build something better.

I don't think I grasp this at all. They say the encryption is forced, so that means that I can't just access my files with Linux or whatever? But then at the end they say to use an extra hard drive as backup, so that can't be right. Is their problem that the cloud storage is encrypted? Wouldn't it be a huge, glaring issue if it wasn't? Regardless, I would expect to be locked out of my files on a cloud storage service I got locked out of, so I don't know what encryption has to do with it. I don't get it.

I like the treadmill or walking outside.

I obviously can't be sure about you, but in my case my tastes have crystallized pretty dramatically, and I'm now much harder to please than when I was younger.

One thing that has changed though, is that games in general tend to have much more detailed stories and dialog in a way that just wasn't in the budget or storage space previously. Nothing annoys me more than having to watch a movie when I want to play a game or to jump through hoops just to get to the next chapter of a book. These are very different activities which require very different moods to enjoy.

My thing with the man and bear has always come down to motivations. If a bear rapes me, it's because it's horny. If a bear mauls me, it's because it's scared or defending its territory. If a bear eats me, it's because it's hungry. Dominance and cruelty will not come into it. The bear will not keep me alive in its basement.

The other thing is that bears don't lie. You might not understand their language, but they absolutely will not act like they're friendly and safe only to lure you or groom you. If it wants to kill you, it'll just do it without any fucked-up mind games.

I haven't posted here before because I'm never sure how to feel about gendered spaces, but this particular issue is one of those ones where I can't help but identify as a woman. I think it's probably all the trauma. :D

I think it should be possible to break the culinary categorisation down to chemistry. That doesn't tell you anything about the "why" but it's definitely not random and definitely not all in our heads.

I agree with what you mean in kind of a broad-strokes way, but as individuals our subjective experiences of flavors can vary pretty wildly. There's genetics, neurology, age, and habit/experience that influence our taste in terms of actually sensing the chemicals. Then there's what we see, taste, and smell just prior or during tasting that severely impact our interpretation of that chemical sense.

Strawberries do not have nipples. :(

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

No, this post is not even accurate.

The substance in strawberries which causes allergic reactions is the fra a 1 protein which gives strawberries their red color. White strawberries have less of this protein and may be tolerated by people with this allergy, depending on individual sensitivity.

Achenes are not nuts.

(1) Achene. A small hard indehiscent fruit. The term is strictly only applied to those formed from one carpel, but is sometimes used for those formed from two carpels (e.g. the fruit of the Compositae). The latter is better termed a cypsela.

(2) Nut. This is similar to an achene, but is typically formed from two or three carpels (e.g. dock fruit).

i. Achene - A one-seeded, dry, indehiscent fruit; the one seed is attached to the fruit wall at a single point.

ii. Nut - A dry, indehiscent, one seeded fruit similar to an achene but with the wall greatly thickened and hardened.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your post, but cashews are drupes, not nuts. I don't know whether all true nuts come from trees, but all the ones I can think of do.

If you took all the seeds off a strawberry, it'd still be a strawberry. A bowl full of strawberry seeds is not a bowl of strawberries.

e: They're actually not even nuts. They're achenes.

I'm too socially inept to know how to respond to this, but I appreciate your post and agree with the sentiment, to the degree that I feel an upvote is inadequate.
