Then you see the ongoing impacts of disasters like the tsunami in Sri Lanka and hurricanes in Central America. Capital used these disasters as opportunities to privatize and dispossess.

Tarence Ray from Trillbilly Worker's Party wrote a few really good articles in the Baffler about the flooding in eastern Kentucky that really reinforced this for me. They're a really good up close look at the failure of disaster relief to meaningfully address the omni crisis facing parts of the country that the government has almost abandoned.

Edit: I just listened to the most recent TWP and they had on Devin O'Shea to talk about the recent tornado in St. Louis and hit most of these same points again, funny timing

We're Not So Different - fun medieval stuff, less serious but has some great interviews and Q&As

The Anti Empire Project with Justin Podur - has a few excellent long running history series. They just finished up with WW1 and are doing the Treaty of Versailles now, can also recommend their Scramble for Africa series

I definitely second Age of Napoleon

Pax Britannica and also The Winds of Change - two podcasts about the British Empire. One about it's formation, the other its dissolution, both by the same guy. They're an ongoing project and slow to release sometimes, but he's got a good sense of humor and can tell a good story

Ah man, now you're making him sound cool. Also my original comment was just an extremely tenuous reference to this kids song, I swear it made more sense when I was typing it immediately after waking up this morning

This is exactly what the US did with covid vaccines! I can't remember what the excuse was, but the US cancelled a shipment of vaccines to Bangladesh for some political bullshit

Among all the truly vile and nakedly evil shit here, this part stuck out to me

How many Palestinians in Gaza would voluntarily leave to live in Libya is an open question. One idea administration officials have discussed is to provide Palestinians with financial incentives such as free housing and even a stipend, the former U.S. official said.

This is a 1:1 exact copy of the us gov playbook to get Native Americans onto reservations in the 1800s. Carrot and stick, but the carrot isn't ever going to materialize and the stick never lets up

Imagine not only getting the legal system involved in a family dispute, but getting so mad about it that the media is involved. These people are deeply, deeply diseased

Like there's a news post and one of use would go "this is almost as bad as the time that ButtBidet ...."

This is like Lenin talking about Kautsky lol

Edit: or we could all collectively invent a Stirner for you to inveigh against

I'm imagining him standing over some poor bastard's shoulder and directing them over and over again to make it more racist because he doesn't even have the capability to do it himself
