I wish more people appreciated the adventure of it all. It's not like most of the content is absolutely necessary for our daily functioning. Whether I spend an hour learning about the fediverse or looking at a stream of "rule" posts, my life won't be diminished.

Yea that's been bumming me out

I kinda agree. At the same time, multiverse crap is even more prevalent at DC than at Marvel.
They had me with
"Threads feels like when a local restaurant you enjoy opens a location in an airport.
It feels like a Twitter alternative you would order from Brookstone."
Perfectly captures the banal uncanny valley of it all
And, centralization of users and communities to any one instance increases the risks of power grabs and attempts to monetize
It really is weird to see the default to tribalism rear its head as it's happening
From that thread, Fedinauts might be my fave. Relatively instance agnostic and keeps that space age, optimistic federated future vibe going
Ooh, fedinauts is good. Definitely agree to prioritize something which doesn't favor a particular instance and rather emphasizes the idea of the fediverse. Also, the ~nauts variations also connote a sort of star trek federation vibe, which suits this whole endeavor.
No shade to lemmy instances, but definitely not Lemmites. There's an unhealthy trend right now to reduce the fediverse to just Lemmy (and lemmy.world, more specifically) that we should not encourage.
Will try, thanks
In a similar vein, the One Plus has a selfie camera which retracts. For all intents and purposes as close as you'll get
