Yes, because obviously Starmer is happy for violence to be directed towards innocent civilians. 🙄

There is a recent change in Lemmy's 0.19 release which would allow the import and export of user profile data, which in theory could allow easier migration between servers.

https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/pull/3976

Hopefully we won't have to resort to that. Also, it would require the admin to upgrade to Lemmy 0.19, which may not be guaranteed.

Well done to everyone who made this possible 🌠

I think this is probably the highest risk, in my opinion. I honestly think Lemmy needs some automated solution to monitoring and scanning for CSAM content, because as a user I don't want to exposed to it and as an admin I wouldn't want to be in the position where I am responsible for censoring it.

I think lemmy.world have kind of made a good point here: we need an admin in place who's reactive and willing to maintain the server regularly - in a moderation and a technical sense - or we should consider migrating to a larger instance.

This is no dig at @tom as he's done a phenomenal job here and has undoubtedly spent time and money in creating this instance, but it would be good to get a sense off him whether he really feels he wants to continue on with the project. If not, it should lead to a larger discussion of where to go from here, because I don't think the status quo is sustainable.

If I wanted to use YT Music I'd already be using it. Podcasts and music are not the same thing. Anyway...

There are some good alternatives out there, like Antennapod.

Bins? You guys don't know how lucky you have it!

  • One blue bag (plastics).
  • One white bag (paper).
  • One orange bag (cardboard)
  • Blue bags x2 (general waste)
  • One brown bin (food waste)

And as a bonus we get to see everyone's manky rubbish scattered across the street on a windy, rainy day - what joy!

Welcome to Bridgend, Wales. ;-)

I would be extremely surprised if at least one upgraded model of the Xbox doesn't ship with a disc drive. It would completely alienate a section of their user-base that want a more powerful box and care about owning physical media. They also made this mistake before with the Xbox One - which Spencer himself has mentioned as a key reason why there's such a gap in sales volume between XBS/X and PS5 - so to make the same mistake again would be doubly confusing.

Edit: just seen this story corroborated by multiple outlets, so this may well be the real deal. And if so, super disappointing and fucking duuuumb. As the Xbox Series X OG console becomes more and more the outlier, what are the chances that publishers will just stop producing discs for retail completely? So basically, really piss off your early adopters. I own a Series S at the moment, but I'm more likely to just switch to PS5 Pro model when it comes round instead of stick with the Xbox Series consoles.

This is the most senseless thing about the RTO movement to me. We have a tiny country and, in software at least, jobs are centralised in a few major cities. There was an opportunity for people from all over to live wherever they choose and spend in their local areas, spread the wealth throughout the country.

But nah, let's go back to the office, the congested and overburdened roads, the noise and air pollution, the hours lost travelling. It's hugely disappointing.

Curious to know what they intend to do with the Bully XLs currently owned legally.

Seems like there is broad support for this, though I find it personally annoying as my car really wants to be above 20 in 3rd gear.

This is a brain dead decision and nothing short of a complete 180 will perhaps save them, but even then the reputational damage is severe.

Would have loved to see this for my 4A but glad they're looking to extend the support window moving forward. Many phones now are powerful enough to go years past their obsolescence date and chucking them away is just e-waste.
