I think there's room for this thought. Honestly the TLDR is enough - Not repeating what others have already said is probably enough to make sure we respond adequately but not overwhelmingly.

I don't consider it dumb, we don't universally dunk on voting, but I think most of us would say it's borderline meaningless. The end result of Biden's time in office vs. Trump's time in office thus far are almost indistinguishable. They both happily support the pursuit to bomb other countries, actively fuel and support overseas wars, attempt coups on foreign governments, blockade Cuba against the wishes of the entire UN, torture innocents in black bag sites, lock up children, imprison people en masse, watch millions suffer without actually reasonably helping, etc. Biden's term in office has overseen a horrific reversal in abortion law and has directly made active efforts to limit the actions of unions, and so forth - that sounds not very distinct from fascism to me.
Main point of the post is "We'll talk about it later" has been the general attitude from liberals to leftists since the beginning of time. We're ALWAYS just averting a crisis right now and it turns out that right now is never the time to actually make constructive change.
???? The Wikipedia article very literally states the massacres didn't happen.
Plenty of other good relevant replies, I just wanna express my admiration and love for being open and asking questions. I've seen a few people from other instances show genuine curiosity like this, and it's quite heart-warming. Hope our instances can intermingle posts and ideas happily and constructively
Honestly I don't think I've seen many actually "pro-Russia" people in all my time on Hexbear. Pretty much all anti-Ukraine and anti-NATO sentiment seems to get interpreted by others as 'Russia good', rather than 'Russia might be best of two evils to win if this shitty war must have a victor'.
Geopolitically, since the heavily west-backed Euromaidan protests, the eastern regions of Ukraine have clearly disagreed and consistently wanted to split. Russia has spent 8 years trying to push two main demands: Stop bombing civilians in Donetsk/Luhansk and give the eastern Ukraine regions a vote on their autonomy. You could argue not Russia's business, but they're not super evil asks either. They're both things Ukraine agreed to do, twice, but never did. How long does Russia stand by while Ukraine makes false promises and kills innocent ethnic Russians asking for help? And there's no denying Ukraine has a.. questionably large scale of fascism in its government.
Russia bad. Russia absolutely bad fuck them. They should not have started this war and they're absolute dicks for it. But they and their aggression don't exist in a vacuum - the war was reasonably avoidable. Now we should be focusing on peace, not hungrily thirsting for more war that will continue to fuck Ukraine and its innocent civilians up for decades to come. Sadly, that seems to be what a lot of the West/USA/EU/NATO want.
Eh. I'm really not a Linus fan but this doesn't seem a big deal. They had a perfectly good interaction and they left on good terms. At no point was there any call or implication that the guy should get harassed. I also think that's as gracious a response as you could ask. If the post is legit, I get why the Dad would be that way, but it doesn't seem at all fair to blame Linus for anything there.
'Brigading' has always been such a Reddit term. People need to learn to adjust to a different way of thinking.
That's my point. You need those Steam keys to get the full experience. If you pirate it, you don't get it. Therefore for some games, resellers > piracy.
Sorry to hear this, and much love to you :< I notice she happily unloaded a ton of stuff instead of, say, asking questions and trying to have a conversation - that alone is deeply disappointing. Not a fun time, best of luck.
Had a very similar experience. I've frequently found that kind of problem is a direct result of the community simply growing 'too large'. The only way to moderate is hit everyone even slightly suspected of being out of line with a brick.
Back in ye olden days of forums and boards, even flagrant transgression of rules were typically forgiven and you were dealt with like a human because moderators had time and care for the community and people.
Doing an insanely small amount better than the other slave master is not a good thing. "They stabbed me five times, but the other guy would've stabbed me seven!".
Sure, please vote for five-times-stabber instead of ol' seven-timeser, but by gods neither are worth defending in any sense.
