IT can look up the original (including all headers) based on the forwarded content. It's on the same mail server.
They might not have always been empty. Could be that there was a branch for a PR that got merged, so the branch was deleted.
I switched to AntennaPod and am satisfied so far. No risk of getting stuck on a proprietary platform.
And git merge --no-commit to do whatever you want on the proposed merge before actually creating the commit. Test or whatever else.
