If my grandmother had wheels she would be a bike.

I'm judging/telling people what to do?

Did you not read the post I responded to?

Most of my classmates seemed to just want to check boxes and expect a career to happen.

Some people in my personal experience seem unwilling to do what’s necessary to make their degree worthwhile.

you really have to find ways to convince employers why you’re different.

I said in a sick world where money is our master would moving in the pursuit of dollars be insanity. Moving for other reasons is not what this post is about. So what do you think I was implying by that? It is normal, sometimes even necessary, for people to do this, what do you think I'm trying to say about the world?

Boot licking is chasing the shareholders/masters in the hope that they'll treat you right and give you a few more dollars per hour than you would working in your home town. A few more dollars than your peers. Boot licking is defending this sick fucking system that we live under where Trumps, Zuckerbergs, and Musks rule the world because money is our master.

Great jobs? Doing what? Licking boots?

Uprooting your entire life, saying goodbye to all of your friends, family, community, home, all for the pursuit of some dollars, that's insanity. Only in a sick world where money is our master is that viewed otherwise.

Uprooting for adventure is one thing, uprooting for work is not the same.

Your comment sounds like some AI generated LinkedIn status and it makes me feel sick.

Where has this narrative that Mozzila is poor come from?

They can afford to make this decision based on philosophy.

They're not Apple rich, but they're not struggling for money. They would just rather give it to their executives than use it wisely

This is from Bathory's third album artwork, if only it was from the previous album, it's called "The Return......"

The Return......

Nice one, go kids!

Driving (hell, even cycling, I've been almost squashed more than once) anywhere near a primary school during the start or end of the school day is an absolute nightmare because of all the mum-mobiles fighting to get as close to the gates as they can. They're so stressed about getting their little cherub into their BMW ChildSquasher9000 that they forget to look at the road or their surroundings.

Unless you're in a small rural town or village, most the students at a primary school are within walking distance of school. So let them walk. Give them exercise, freedom, community, fresh air. Get P6s and P7s, brothers and sisters, to walk with P1s and P2s. Or if you're that scared of kid-snatchers, park at home, walk to the school, and walk home with them, get some exercise and fresh air yourself. Or even better, cycle!

I see literally no downsides to this initiative.

Here's a documentary on their purge of the left for anyone interested:

The Labour Files

Shares of the vote in general elections since 1832 received by Conservatives[note 1] (blue), Liberals/Liberal Democrats[note 2] (orange), Labour (red) and others (grey)[1][2][3]

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_Kingdom_general_elections

The Conservatives forming from a split in the Liberal party doesn't mean they're the same thing.

Labour and Liberal Democrats are two very different parties. Or at least they used to be, until New Labour became a thing...

Our politics are bad, FPTP is bad, but we're not a 2 party system entirely. The Lib Dems, Greens, SNP, and Reform all manage to have a say in politics and how things are done. They all influence Labour and the Conservatives.

Not to mention one person having multiple accounts for different purposes and business accounts. Instagram is big, no doubt, but not 2 billion users big

Or you can buy a safety razor and a 100 pack of blades and never have to think about razors again for the rest of your life.

Shaving is one of the most basic of human grooming techniques going back hundreds of years, we figured that shit out ages ago. Ignore Gillette's marketing, ignore BIC's "cheap" prices. Just get a no-name safety razor and some blades and you'll be sorted for the rest of your life. You don't need fancy shaving creams either, lather up some soap and rub it all over your face. Done. Easy. Cheap. Sustainable. Now you can use your time on picking your nose or playing video games or whatever you wanna do for fun!

That's what happens when your country won't shut up about how great they are. Or rather, won't shut up full stop.

"USA! USA! USA! NUMBER ONE!" Is so fucking annoying, of course non-Americans remind you you're only number one in percentage of the population in prison.

America is a shit country that feeds its population "patriotic" propaganda from the day they are born until the day they die. You literally make a pledge every day at school. That's cult behaviour.

Lemmy just opens your eyes to the rest of the world, where you're no longer in the bubble of America. Lemmy isn't the problem, you're just finally hearing the voices of those outside the USA, unfiltered.

This is from Scotland, in 1983, the sentiment now hasn't changed much.

I'm sorry that this comment is so harsh because you're just tryna live your life and already sound down about being told how shit your country is. But Americans need reminded that we don't "hate ya cuz we ain't ya" or jealous or whatever, as a nation you're just insufferably obnoxious and commit heinous crimes whilst making out you're the saviour of the world, the good guys, the world police. When you're institutionally arseholes. You won't even submit to international criminal courts or uphold most human rights. America is a bully nation that is finally reaping what it's sown.

If you're an American reading this and you're fucking fuming at what I've said and want to throw hands, good. Use that anger to create positive change in this world. Organise unions, strike in solidarity, stand up for others, become politically active, change your country for the better. Stop enabling greedy consumerist behaviour and excusing rapists, racists, and murderers. You may just be one person, what can you do? But I'm just some dude on the other side of the planet having a bored rant whilst taking a shit and I've managed to get you to read all this. Do something to improve your community, encourage others to do the same, many many incremental changes combined can make a large difference. Finally fucking live up to the tagline "land of the brave", because you sure as shit don't deserve it so far.
