Yeah but, referencing your analogy, if you want knowledgeable and informative conversation, you want to talk to your custom PC buddy, not the friends who only know how to plug and play. The comments sections on Lemmy are not dumpster fires like on Reddit
I'm loving it, there isn't half as much karma farming bs and pointless arguing in any of the subs I've joined. The content will come if folks don't give in and go back.
Great to see fellow Sync Pro users! I'm trying to get the hang of Lemmy for when, hopefully, he releases Sync for it! I'll gladly pay again, Reddit never deserved it.
Honestly that's one of the things I'm stoked on about this, the fat gets trimmed. Leave all the clueless people with the loudest, uneducated opinions to sink on the redditanic.
Something similar to this on Lemmy would be a killer service to undertake since finding our way around discovering new subs is a bit different with the email-esque setup!

Maybe look for some aid setting up a place for them on Lemmy and I'll post the link and how-to there, I figure that'd be a good way to have my reddit account to go out (shadow banned)!
