Are you citing something specific, as in a toolset that has been leaked that the government is known to use with what it can retrieve or do you mean theoretically? I mean, sure, if an organization went to the extremes and desoldered the NVRAM from the phone and dumped the contents from an external reader they could likely get much more than fragments.

The content he's consuming is worrying, but that subjective so I'll set that aside for now.

Recently, he’s planning to ditch his 9-5 to get into streaming.

If you are a couple in a committed long term relationship, these kind of decisions need to be decided and agreed on together, not unilaterally.

But when I question how he is going to do his fair share of responsibilities if he gets nothing from streaming, he suggests me being the breadwinner until he makes it big.

Again, you would have to consent to this. He can't just decide for you. Any change in career/income path like this even for a reasonable new direction should have a solid plan. That plan should be enumerated with clear milestone targets and dates and not "until he makes it big".

This is the same man who said men paying for women’s education is a dumb move because she would end up leaving him in the end.

All of us choose our mates based upon our own personal criteria. Personally were I a woman, this misogynistic statement right here would have been enough to disqualify him from being anyone I would want to be in a relationship with.

not a “wiped” old smart phone.

Why not a “wiped” old smart phone? What isn't wiped at a factory reset?

Iran, take a good look at the amount of military support Armenia received when reached out to Putin after an attack by Azerbaijan:

"Despite Armenia's appeals for assistance from the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) and Russia during Azerbaijan's incursions in May 2021 and September 2022, both entities declined to assist, leaving Armenia on its own.[62][63] "

source

And Armenia was a signatory on a mutual defense agreement CSTO. Iran isn't.

Tangentially, I was chatting with the owner of my local pub in Boston recently, and apparently it’s become something of a game (?!?!?!?!?) to try to slip people mickeys around here.

In some time periods in some places in the world, getting a hand cut off was punishment for theft. While that is a bit extreme, maybe assholes convicted of this should lose the final knuckle of their pinky finger as punishment for drugging people at bars.

(And, yes, unless apocalypse, and unless battery dies, I know.)

Simple batteries can be made from readily available materials post apocalypse such as potatoes or citrus fruits like lemons. You'd need a fair amount of them for any appreciable time. After the fall of civilization, such required foods would be considered offerings to the gods to grant the knowledge stored on your Kindle long after its Lithium battery bit the dust. This would be until humans are able to make lead acid gravity cells, which again, isn't that difficult. They aren't very portable, but if you are just needing to run the device you don't need it to be.

It makes sense to me, but they could have put the "£2.50 total" instead of just "£2.50" to make it more clear.

My favorite is the Champion one piece. It’s a beast to install because it’s literally one giant piece of porcelain. But that also means less chance for a leak in 30 years.

About 8 months ago I put in one of the giant one piece porcelain toilets. I got it at Costco in Canada and brought it back to the States. That was an interesting trip through the border crossing back into the USA.

CBP: "Anything to declare?"
Me: "No booze, weapons, or tobacco, but I do have a brand new toilet in the back"
CBP: "You're free to go"

It was cheaper than any other dual flush single piece toilet I could find here in the States and I've liked its performance in the months since putting it in service.

I just don't need to be advertised to in those moments in my life.

Charmin is an excellent alternative.

We used to use Charmin until they started doing pop up ads.

Those three things together read for me a parent that wants to control their child. Newspapers and radio bring information and ideas that the parent didn't introduce. Bicycles bring transportation and exposure to more of your city, which introduces ideas the parents don't control.

But lighting, layout, smells, sounds… Everything is accounted for.

Yet there is only one smoke-free casino in Vegas, and even then its only been smoke free since Sept of 2020. I wonder if their science says that cigarette smoke encourages gambling in non-smokers. That isn't my personal experience as its a huge turn off, but for others it might.

Warning: Season 2 finale spoilers here!

This is an interview with the show's creator. I'll post my opinion on it in the thread.

This was in the 1980s video rental store inside the theme park. It was a great nostalgic recreation of a time gone by, and Commodore 64 is rightfully represented!

So wholesome!

Tom Smothers, half of the Smothers Brothers and the co-host of one of the most socially conscious and groundbreaking television shows in the history of the medium, has died at 86.

The National Comedy Center, on behalf of his family, said in a statement Wednesday that Smothers died Tuesday at home in Santa Rosa, California, following a cancer battle.

“I’m just devastated,” his brother and the duo’s other half, Dick Smothers, told The Associated Press in an interview Wednesday. “Every breath I’ve taken, my brother’s been around.”
