It's a wonderfully written song. The lyrics are profound. It makes me think of my reckless youth, and wanting to go fast and live for today, and now things are beginning going the other way; I'm thinking about the future, my daughter and son, and what I shape I leave them in emotionally, mentally, physically.

I dunno wtf it is, I've been real goddamned wistful as of late and beyond the wistfulness it's making me think of those who will come after me. I think I'm in some sort of phase of my life, I just haven't figured out which one yet.

Sorry for dumping that on you.

We love the all, the all of you
Where lands are green and skies are blue
When all in all, we're just like you
We love the all of you

Some rock n roll from 1996.

I was once like you are now and I know that it's not easy
To be calm when you've found something going on
But take your time, think a lot
Think of everything you've got

A father to his son. A good song.

nightlife.

Bars/clubs/etc still stay open to whatever time they are licensed and allowed to depending upon what part of the US they are in. That hasn't changed.

Many countries... European soccer

Apples and oranges. You're comparing one country to another and that's disingenuous.

China

Again.. the complaint was nothing is open 24/7 anymore in the US

You're making a statement about another country that doesn't apply to the video posted.

That didn't happen in the US and A before whatever the video is speaking about. It's neither here nor there.

Way to ignore everything else and cherry pick some shit. 👍

Is mass consumption of crap a healthy nightlife? Is not being able to buy Wendy's frosties and Dave's Doubles at 3am really the problem?

The OP is listing specific examples and I gave specific examples as to why it's not..

anglo brained

You're painting with a real broad brush there. It isn't just anglos who own businesses that aren't open 24/7. This isn't sundown town shit.

Did the good restaurants stay open 24/7 before?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 days ago (11 children)

Conversely, what is the need for everything to be open in the middle of the night? The person is stating nothing is open 24/7 any more.

it's a bit more complicated an answer than 'I need treats at three am and there's no treats to be had'.

It costs actual money to be open. Lot of places require extended hours permits to stay open past 11pm-midnite. The returns on staying open 24/7 May not justify staying open all nite. Also, I like to sleep.

I understand there are third shifters , I get that folks have insomnia. But the examples used haven't really changed. Wendy's is still 'open late'. Open late doesn't mean 24/7. Whataburger are still 24/7. Taco Bell's are mostly independently owned and have always set their own hours, more or less. The mom n pop gas stations have always closed around around 11,12. The big ones are still open 24/7. She uses Irving Pizza as an example, then complains that the place that took the space when Irving Pizza closes doesn't have the same business hours ?

This kinda comes across as complaining for treats IMO.

Smedley once again proving the thing he said that one time.

You're the reason our kids are ugly,
Little darlin.
Ah, but looks ain't everything,
And money ain't everything,
But I love you just the same.

a honkey tonk love song by two country legends. The song is a little unconventional but it's still a love song.

I've always been a music kind of guy. I developed a joy for song early in my life. I'd like to say my music tastes are pretty varied, although I do have a couple preferred lanes I like to drive in.

This is a song of personal significance. It reminds me of a place in time, and a place geographically. It reminds me of someone, and a bond we shared.

It's interesting, the older I get, the more significance music has to me. Is it wistfulness? Is it just the fact that music soothes the savage beast, and I am unrested? I dunno.

Never been a Hall and Oates fan. I mean I know who they are, just because people of a certain age just kinda know who they are. My old man is a Hall and Oates fan from way back. He has a couple of their early releases on LP. Back when they were decidedly more melodic, easy listening. Yacht Rock.

Recently some PhilCollins posting I did made me have a fleeting moment of introspection and I began to realize how much I am my father's son. I keep finding myself listening to more and more of the shit he listened to. I heard this song earlier and turned it up.

I am embracing yacht rock and I like it. I am become my father. Lord help us all. Thanks for coming to psychology talk.

Tag. Tag you're it!
Gals panic!

I think these guys were not well known outside of Austin Tx really. Went to Austin with my little sister a bunch in the nineties to see these guys. Good band, great energy. Lot of fkn fun. Lead singer, Lance 'fever' Myers was involved with Space Jam, A Scanner Darkly, and other projects. Hes a well known animator in/around Austin Tx.

Move with me Magdalene
I'm tired of the same old scene
There's a greyhound leaving at midnight
If you came with me it'd be like a dream

A Guy Clark tune. He ranks amongst my favorite singer songwriters, a person-and-a-guitar sorta thing. He was a great luthier too, he made all the guitars he played with his own hands, and thats pretty fkn cool if you ask me.

When the roll is called up yonder,
And my spirit flies away.
It wont have one thing to do,
With gettin stoned that day.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Yeah but these arent broken, just stuck. At least not judging by included photo they arent.

Extractors have a time and place but theyre more of a last resort than a first line IMO. These screws just appear to be in wood so OP just needs more leverage frankly, hence the suggestion of a larger slot which will allow a no 3 philips or a 5/16 or 3/8 flathead to get more bite.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 weeks ago (4 children)

Drill screw heads out. Remove tracks. Use vice grips or similar locking pliers to bite down on threaded shafts and spin em out. Or use a grinder to cut a larger groove into the screw head and use a big flathead or cut a large cross into the top and use and no 3 philips screwdriver to remove them.

If the screws are pan heads you might be able tilo bite onto the lip with a pair of locking pliers and forgo tge grinding/drilling/etc.
