I followed /r/opensignups and jumped on a few. I did pay to get into IPT as my first, though. Worth it, imo.
Doesn't hurt to have multiple. (At least, I hope, since I'm in like five.)
I use a subscription to get as much as I can and then a block as backup.
I'd love something that works as well for music, audiobooks, and ebooks as Jellyfin does for TV and movies.

It looks like those instructions are for if you're having NAT-PMP poke a hole in the firewall for you. I'm trying to set an explicit forwarded port so I don't need to enable NAT-PMP.
EDIT: Though, even turning NAT-PMP on, I can't get it working. sigh (And natpmpc
won't return a positive response.)
