First clone the repo, then initialize submodules and update, then go into the docker directory and run docker compose. That did the trick for me with the sample compose file

Now I just need a Framework & System76 partnership. Let framework focus on the hardware (instead of Clevo) and have System76 focus on compatibility. I could see that type of relationship being very appealing for dev shops' IT departments

If you are the only one using your services, sure but that's way more of a PITA than 99% of users are going to put up with. Running a federated service is no different than running any other service - harden your network, use tunneling if you so desire (though if hosting media, the likes of Cloudflare are out of the question), have your local VLANs configured accordingly, and manage it like you would any other service. Hell, if you are super paranoid, go dual WAN as that's likely cheaper than having a multiple VPS for your services or paying for the needed bandwidth on one (again, assuming media hosting)

I moved on to Authetik to handle auth and all but one or two of my services is able to work either using SAML, OIDC, LDAP, header keys, or basic auth. It was a bit to get set up but man does SSO make things convenient in the long-run

Harboring nuclear missiles and coordinating with a country actively invading them, I can understand why

This is how all countries act - in their self interest

Are you surprised? After SA continued doing business with Russia after much of the west had imposed sanctions this type of inconvenience is expected. It's petty and exactly the type of thing delegates are used to

It reminds me of old reddit when it was primarily tech-heavy content filled with passionate developers constantly building on top of the platform. I doubt Lemmy or kbin ever see a fraction of reddit's traffic but that's ok with me as the content is better suited to me and the conversation taking place is just as valuable

It will take time for tools to be built on top of lemmy to allow for more robust moderation

Admit they dropped the ball when it came to decision making and let employees know they are taking care of their cash cow (power users, content creators, and mods).

Fair. I could see this being a feature request but again, voting is kinda the whole point of these type services so unless OP is wanting to put forward a PR, I don't see it happening
