Thankfully haven't seen AMP links posted to lemmy in a loooong time. At the beginning of the migration it was pretty painful though, had to use some de-amputator website to fix the links since there was (and still is) no bot to handle them

I dislike that Android makes it so easy to accidentally set an app as default for something, and the only way to reverse it is to revoke all of the app's defaults

That's exactly what URLCheck does on Android, acts like a middleman for links and allows you to strip tracking parameters etc, before forwarding you to another app to view the link's contents

A Lemmy alternative that can interact (federate) with Lemmy and Mastodon, and has much better support for Mastodon in particular

Omg that's absolutely disgusting if true.

Is there not a single rich CEO who isn't a mental outlier in some way?

Just don't buy them off Amazon, Walmart, Newegg etc... buy straight from the manufacturer. There's a lot of counterfeits about

Also try to avoid polyester fabrics

How comes? My polyester sportswear is so comfy, not too sure what other comparable materials are available for breathability and stuff

In cold and dry climates you don’t necessarily get as smelly

This 100%, for me at least

Probably one of the porn instances blocked by almost everyone, either lemmynsfw or pornlemmy

Wouldn't be possible afaict, the encryption masks the xz archive which contains the checksum metadata. If the data is modified, decryption & extraction will simply fail.

The data will be undecipherable to a mitm anyway since it's encrypted, the only real risk imo would be someone modifying the encrypted data in transit to attempt a zero day targeting the decryption process... chances of which are probably really low lol

That's surprising. Dell should have good Linux driver support, seeing as they offer Ubuntu pre-installed in some markets.

Saying that, we have work issued Dell Precision mobile workstations and there are constantly hardware and driver issues under Windows, where you'd expect things to work just fine...

  • the internal microphone not working (handy for meetings!)
  • the 3.5mm combo jack not working (ah, great, no backup for when the internal microphone stops working)
  • the battery handshake failing, causing the machine to not charge, stay stuck in a low performance mode, and constantly pop up Windows notifications saying the battery is not genuine
  • the presence sensor locking the laptop while you're literally working it

Now I use a USB headset, disabled the presence sensor, and reboot the laptop repeatedly until the battery is detected as genuine
