Decided to make a list of some Chinese creators I like on xiaohongshu for those of you who just downloaded the app and want some more content. This list is very much reflective of my personal interests (art, fashion, and diy) but I hope if anyone else has recommendations you will put them in the comments! I just ask that we please don’t put any primarily English speaking creators in here because this is in the interest of journeying outside the Anglosphere internet.
Fashion 服装/穿搭
(Short disclaimer about fashion content: most fashion influencers on XHS are very skinny and pale, unfoetunately there is not a lot of representation for diverse body types.)
OUCERN YANG — shared a lot of 新中式, aka “new chinese style”, which is a clothing style that has a bit of a following on XHS. It’s basically non-traditional clothing that incorporates a Chinese “style” to it.
想买新衣服的羊羊🐑 — does a lot of outfits incorporating hanfu elements without going for the full hanfu look. Classy and colorful style.
富山津渡vtg — feminine, vintage, maximalist outfits.
三文泽 — alternative outfits. Chinese alternative style is pretty distinct and I love it.
BLACKSTONE黑石 — Goth/punk/alternative store. I chose my favorite one but I actually follow quite a few Chinese clothing stores lol.
Art 艺术
画画的玉玉卿 — digital illustrator who works in the 古风 style that I see often on the Chinese internet, aka art that incorporates a lot of historical Chinese design language and motifs. She has a series where she draws Chinese historical artifacts as people.
画画的老张和面包 — impressive large and detailed marker drawings.
杉泽 — extremely finely detailed paintings often featuring Chinese stories and motifs.
阿社模型 — builds miniatures of buildings. Usually talks a little bit about the background behind the piece and who commissioned it in the accompanying narration.
翰德 内画艺术 — Chinese snuff bottle painting. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s where you take a tiny brush and paint inside a tiny bottle. Very fun.
赵恒逸 Henry — fantastic fineliner drawings.
DIY 手工
房灰灰 — lovely DIY home decor.
王执着 — very fun and interesting concepts for DIY furniture.
周周疯狂 DIY — more DIY modern style furniture.
ailehe — alternative clothing DIYs. For some reason DIY clothing are called “remakes” on XHS, I assume to differentiate it from DIY furniture and decor.
