Ah I see, fair enough, thanks.

With the clearing deleted messages after 30 days, I take it that would also delete the username visability after 30 days too, or would it still leave the username of the deleted comment even after 30 days?

Hey, I recognize your name from reddit! Nice to see you here. You're not wrong, that's literally what happened lol

There are some pretty serious bugs, though. One serious bug is that when a registration is denied, the applicant has no way of knowing, it doesn't send an email like it does for approvals - you can find out more here: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1096. Another serious bug is after rebooting, active/hot have trouble updating, which makes Lemmy appear much less active than it actually is: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3076

These are just two serious bugs I know about, they are tier 0 bugs IMO, and I'm sure there's even more serious bugs that are even more serious than these two.

That sounds really cool, thanks!

I'm still new to the fediverse, how would you use the Mastodon app to chat with people on lemmy.world and other lemmy instances? Would you be able to read threads in different communities like /c/android etc?

I like being able to customize it, I like being able to develop or at least modify apps for it since I am a Java/Kotlin developer, I prefer the more open ecosystem, etc.

Oof, yeah, requiring someone to use Arch definitely seems like a steep requirement lol

I'd maybe be interested in trying out self-hosting Mastodon at some point too, good to hear that Lemmy was easy to install though. I'm not too worried since I have quite a bit of Linux experience, I figure it probably won't be too bad to setup whatever social media instances I'm interested in checking out.

The reason why I'd consider kbin is because I almost think I might prefer the interface, also I'm more of a PHP developer myself so that is tempting in and of itself too lol

I may wait a little bit before trying out either one tbh

Okay that is pretty tempting, now I am gonna have to look into hosting my own at some point lol
