OP was asking for reasons why German torrent trackers are so slow to get new stuff and I just explained the reason why people are not using torrents as much here

creators to jump ship

that's why I said it's impossible - it the same kind of monopoly Steam has in that it's impossible for the creators to NOT be on that platform because of the size it has but unlike Steam Youtube has started acting anti-consumer now instead of just anti-creator as in the past

me, too - but how does that invalidate my point that almost everyone knows someone that got such a letter and that that in general turns away a lot of people from taking their first steps

In Germany it's really risky to use torrents in general since there are lawyers that are specialised in sending people very high bills for seeding.

Most people know someone that got one of those bills over a couple of thousand euros so a lot of people are a bit traumatized when it comes to using torrents here.

With Poland not having the pis in charge hopefully there's a chance now

Isn't it winter, too, in Brazil? I'd expect the chance for it getting better isn't great during summer in the southern hemisphere either

YouTube has a monopoly that is nearly impossible to challenge because of the network effect.

Sure there are costs but it would be better if as many people as possible would be ready to jump ship to create an alternative

80% of the items are traded for less credits than it costs to build the blueprints so they probably hope that by taking the trading option away that people will spend more money on those 2000CR blueprints

Wouldn't be surprised if Italy also steps in to stop sanctions against antidemocratic nationalists and populists in the future

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

As a German I feel it's about time that "blame Germany" isn't enough anymore to win an election in Poland.

This could be insanely important for the European Union if Poland isn't blocking sanctions against Hungary by default anymore.

But it wouldn't be surprised if Italy is taking their spot in protecting antidemocratic populism now...
