I mean, that's kinda how democracy is supposed to work right?

[–] go_go_gadget@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago

...so are you gonna keep coming up with analogies or start insisting Democrats actually work for the voters they're depending on? Because analogies didn't win you the general.

A slim majority of American voters support blocking weapon shipments and a large majority of Democrat voters do.

The problem with Biden shipping weapons is that it casts doubt on our "democracy".

Unfortunately for you they're called "voters". So do you want democracy or authoritarianism?

[–] go_go_gadget@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

You realize Biden went around congress to ship weapons to Israel despite the majority of his own voters being against it?

We've been voting for fascists for a while now.

How about billionaires?

Show up for what? A strike blocking, genocide supporting administration led by a egotistical geriatric who thought they were fit to run again?

What is with this bizarre idea that voters need to curry favor with politicians? That's not how democracy works.

You said the Bitcoin ledger is mutable. It's not. You said Bitcoin isn't anonymous and that's mostly true because it's pseduo-anonymous which can be fully anonymous if you want it to be.

[–] go_go_gadget@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (2 children)

but it needs to be secure and allow for anonymous transactions, and not allow for tampering with the ledger. Bitcoin has failed on all three accounts.

Lol what? No legitimate bitcoin critics make these claims against Bitcoin. The ledger is immutable and the transactions are pseudo anonymous. In fact your typical bitcoin critic lists these as downsides ("no way to reverse mistakes" and "cannot prevent money laundering") right after the criticisms about energy consumption.

You legitimately have no idea what you're talking about.

He’s actually been surprisingly effective

If you like him then you get him re-elected. I won't be voting for him a second time.

I care about material results; my future, my family’s future, my neighbors’ futures, the future of the people who live in this country, and this world.

Same bud. And Biden was never the guy who was going to do that for me. Where were you during the 2020 primaries? Where have you been ever since?

Biden doesn't accept blame for tipping the scales in their favor. Biden's family doesn't accept blame for tipping the scales in their favor. Biden's campaign doesn't accept blame for tipping the scales in their favor. The DNC leadership doesn't accept blame for tipping the scales in their favor. People who voted for Biden in the 2020 primaries don't accept blame for tipping the scale in their favor. Moderaters and political analysts don't accept blame for tipping the scales in their favor. People like you letting those people get away with that and focusing on telling me to be quiet and vote for Biden don't accept blame for tipping the scales in their favor.

I don't accept blame for it either.

Moderates would rather lose to fascists than compromise with leftists and progressives.

The rail union contract expires at the end of this year meaning the rail union workers can strike again sometime in 2025. Whoever wins the 2024 general election and becomes president will immediately have to deal with that possibility. If Biden is serious about how Trump is the biggest threat we face then promising to veto any attempts to force another contract onto the rail unions is a bargain.

Your move Joe. Are you willing to compromise with leftists or do you want to go down in history as the second establishment Democrat who lost to Donald Trump?
