Jesus Christ that README just kept getting worse. Hard pass on that.

I’ve thought it might be good to wear some kind of church’s shirt or something - I know that police tend to fuck with people who help the homeless, especially in my area.

As someone else mentioned, this might actually work against you.

With regards to police interference, if you feel you are able, it's worth pushing back against it. If it's not against the law where you live, record any interaction with police on your phone, and know your rights regarding stop and search, detainment, etc. Legally resisting this kind of police overreach has a big impact on increasing the safety for other outreach groups and can embolden others to make positive change if they're more confident they're not going to be harassed by police for doing so.

But what font did you want me to read it in?

I've come back to this four times today already. Each time my appreciation grows for how masterfully wrong this is.

The uneven distribution of the slices of Emmental cheese. The chaotic squiggle of Sriracha. The chunks of pineapple balancing on the edge.

You are a genius.

Oh yeah, I just noticed this too!

Ooooh now this is interesting. My first reaction was "hah, yeah exactly!". But then I thought: this image of text contains more information than just the textual content. For example:

  • The words are someone else's, not OP's
  • They were sourced from a different social media network to this one

Also, it may be due to the prevalence of smartphone use in interacting with Lemmy vs using a traditional computer: it's often quicker and easier to take and share a screenshot of text than it is to select, copy and paste that text.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I just read your comment at the time my morning coffee really hit, and it spawned an interesting chain of thoughts.

So... thank you. And sorry for inflicting this braindump.

I knew Boyz Noize would be supporting, but I felt that it was kind of counterintuitive having him try to gee the crowd up with dancier stuff before NIN came on with the stripped back, piano interpretations for the first part of the NIN set.

I was not expecting to see Somewhat Damaged live. That was amazing. Hearing Eraser, Reptile and Heresy were all fantastic too... the only thing that could have topped it for me would have been having A Warm Place before Eraser...

Enjoy the show tonight!

Same! Skarsgard was very jarring compared to my mental image of Murderbot.

I can't believe I got to see Somewhat Damaged, Heresy and The Perfect Drug live. Honestly, one of the best shows I've ever been to.

I didn't take many pictures, but here's one of the NIN logo projected onto the mesh in front of the main stage:

I am so excited to see them in Manchester tomorrow.

Are you a breeder, dog trainer or dog handler?

Because that's not how it works. You can breed for particular traits, as you mentioned, but behavioural characteristics (such as aggression) are more complex than simple genetic traits. You could breed two highly aggressive dogs together and get a placid dog as a result.

You're talking about behavioural characteristics, not skills. Dogs don't know how to fight without training any more than people know how to drive a car without lessons.

And as far as aggressive behaviour goes, pitbulls aren't necessarily any more or less aggressive than other breeds. There have been lots of studies on aggression in dogs that show that breed is not a good predictor of behavioural tendencies (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9679229/).

Aww what a beautiful family!

The issue is people having bread them for fighting.

That's not how breeding works. Fighting dogs are trained to fight, they don't just grow up with inbuilt knowledge.

Please listen to the people with experience working with or handling dogs. Pitbulls and other breeds aren't the problem. Irresponsible pet owners are

I've been rediscovering music from my youth recently, and I have a lot of love for this band. They started as a darkwave/Neue Deutsche Todeskunst band, but added elements of metal to their style.

Such sad news 😢

This was released today, and I can't stop listening to it.

I'm working on expanding my electro-industrial and EBM records.

I have some very powerful memories attached to this song.

The mashup band we deserve

I've seen some pressings of records I want to own that are "half speed masters", and I wondered if anyone here has already listened to some records using this mastering technique? Is there a noticeable (and better) difference in audio quality? I'm very much looking for opinions here, I know a bit about how the process works but haven't had the opportunity to do any side-by-side comparisons.

My turntable and speaker setup isn't high-end, so if the quality improvement is only really apparent on very sensitive equipment then I'll stick with the regular masters.

I normally do a regular calisthenics routine 3 times a week, which involves push-ups among other exercises. Unfortunately I have recently injured my elbow, and need to give it some rest to heal. Are there any upper-body or arm exercises I could do in the meantime to preserve my strength that won't put stress or pressure on my elbows?
