Interestingly this is how it started out here. You bought fire insurance and were protected by a fire company. I want to say it was one of Franklin's things that established the first public fire company in Philadelphia, but this is a forum so if I'm wrong I know I'll be corrected!

We still have a lot of groups, at least in the northeast, that refer to themselves as companies, though it's used more like an army company or battalion and less like a for-profit endeavor.

Where else? Fascist hats are tariff free, BTW.

I had a friend back in the day that was a big Linux geek. He got me hooked when he showed me this crazy system that let me just type in a command and within a few minutes or an hour (internet wasn't super fast in my house in 2002), I could have something installed without having to search the internet for some potentially cooked installer.

That's the long way around to say I started with Gentoo, installed over the course of 3 long Saturdays with my friend over my shoulder and the install guide printed out on a stack of papers because neither of us had a laptop to look at.

I moved to Debian after a few months, but man portage was life changing.

Oh I actually know how to beat this one. "I do not recall." "Fifth." "What is that? This is the first I'm hearing of it."

Am I doing it right, Shitler?

A reminder that a boycott is for the company as a whole. Even if a specific product isn't made or labeled as made in El Salvador, if you buy from the company they won't care because they still got your money. If they put money into that economy, they don't deserve yours.

This also goes for any and all American companies that fed or are feeding the Nazis here.

I've had good luck with Bamboo Cool the last few months. Before that I was wearing Shinesty but switched when I dropped a ton a weight and didn't get as much ball sweat.

DistroTube has a similar project going as well, DTOS. I'm not sure if it's actually up and available but it looks promising for a similar target audience. https://youtu.be/FA__ScVhGQA

I'm not actually confident he does know that, to be honest.

Only if it's a REALID. And even as a DoD ID and valid passport holder, I don't have a REALID yet because I haven't ever brought enough proof that I am who I am to the DMV when I renew my license.

You'd think that two forms of ID that required me to provide my birth certificate (and one my SSID card) would be sufficient. I don't live in the same state where I'm licensed (I keep an open primary state for voting until I have to switch when I retire next year), so it's a 3-hour drive each way to my DMV, that I have to make on a workday, plus 2+ hours in line there. Add in the cost of fuel and that could be a very expensive day if I wasn't as privileged as I am.

I'm a white guy with a salaried position and the flexibility to give up a day's work to get my ID renewed, if I were someone who had to decide between voting and having the money to feed my kids this week, sadly I wouldn't be voting. And that's their goal.

The cynic in me knows that since it would be only D's going down there, the fascists would use their absence to cram some shit through. The smart play would be to send only congresspeople and keep the senators here to make sure that nothing Mike LovesJohnson slides up can pass filibuster and get to the Diet Coke Desk.
