2024-Nov-14: I added 50 more "active" remote communities to https://feddit.online/, based on lemmyverse.net information. I skipped NSFW and suspicious communities. I only considered English and Spanish/Portuguese communities. Everyone is encouraged to add remote communities, regardless of language.

I added 50 more "active" remote communities to https://feddit.online/, based on lemmyverse.net information. I skipped NSFW and suspicious communities. I only considered English and Spanish/Portuguese communities.

I just added 101 most active remote communities to https://feddit.online/ based on lemmyverse.net that are not already in the database. I filtered out NSFW, suspicious communities, and selected only English and Spanish/Portuguese communities. Everyone is encouraged to add any remote communities they want. All languages are good.

There are now 1,600 communities on the server.

I added another 75 remote communities to https://feddit.online/ that are the most active, according to lemiverse.net, and that were not already here. I excluded NSFW and suspicious communities, although one NSFW came in because it wasn't properly flagged. It's flagged NSFW here now. Only English and Spanish language communities were selected.

Anyone can add, and is encouraged to add, remote communities of any language.

I just finished adding the 98 most active remote communities based on lemmyverse.net, using monthly activity statistics, that are not already on this server. I excluded NSFW and suspicious communities. I only took English and Spanish language communities.

Anyone can add remote communities.

The following 101 remote communities have been added to feddit.online. The first two from a member, and the remaining 99 picked from lemmyverse.net based on communities with the most subscribers that are not yet here. NSFW, suspicious, and non-English, non-Spanish communities were excluded in the search.

Remember, anyone can bring remote communities onto this server.

I considerably increased the database server (feddit.online)

Instead of waiting until tomorrow, I threw caution to the wind, and upgraded the database cluster tonight (8-Nov).

The DB cluster now has 2 vCPUs, 4 GB RAM, and a 60 GB SSD. It can support a maximum of 97 connections.

I hope this resolves some performance issues I noticed when the DB CPU was pegging at 100%.

I've noticed that the database server is often maxing out at 100% CPU, and it's creating performance issues. Sometime tomorrow, the 9th, I'm going to scale up the database server. This should be transparent and should not cause any disruption. But, just in case it does, if something goes wrong, you'll know why.

Using the same criteria in my message from about 2 hours ago, I added these additional 99 remote communities to the server.

Remember, you can add any remote communities you want as well. Visit https://lemmyverse.net/ for communities across the threadaverse.

I've added 97 remote communities to the server. It takes time to assign topics so they may not be in topics yet.

They are the 97 remote communities with the largest number of subscribers that are not already here. I excluded NSFW and suspicious communities. I also skipped communities from banned hexbear.net and lemmygrad.ml

These are all algorithmically selected. I have not looked at the contents of these communities. Please let me know if any are offensive.

I will be doing this exercise as often as I can to get as many remote communities known here as possible.
