Thanks! I have no art talent, so I turned to AI. I used canva.com to create it.

Yeah. I believe you are right. The account username is "ænima" but I only see "Ænima" on posts and stuff.

I don't see a workaround. Both the display name and the account name have the same special character. The only option may be to start over with a new account, and give up the great look :(

Hi.

So I checked the logs, and it turns out that your username, Ænima, which, by the way, I love, is causing your votes to be rejected.

https://feddit.online/activities/like/ Like failure could not send:'ascii' codec can't encode character '\xc6' in position 31: ordinal not in range(128)

@[email protected] @[email protected] Rimu, is this just a Piefed limitation, or would these special characters be impacting for other Fediverse applications? What is the best approach for resolving this?

Rimu is the main developer. If he doesn't see this, I'll ping him.

I'm sorry about this. I know it's frustrating.

"To generalize is to be an idiot." - William Blake

Yesterday I deployed the latest Piefed software and overnight the server ran out of memory and fell about 8 hours behind. After restarting, memory began consuming at an alarming rate. I scaled the server up, but when I restarted, the server wasn't processing any incoming data but throwing 502 (Internal Server Errors).

I restored the server from a back-up I made on Saturday (Database is NOT affected and is still up-to-date). Now it's back to working. HOWEVER, all the incoming posts for about 8 hours are missing. I don't know if it's due to the restore, or they were just tossed when they came in due to the problem that was happening.

So, apologies for losing 8 hours of incoming posts. I've reached out to the developers for next steps.

Once everything works with the latest code, I'll scale the server back down to the size it was before.

I'm an Admin with a bunch of public servers. If someone was as disrespectful to me, as the one here whining about their ban, I'd permanently block them from every one of my servers as well. It's not the mod who is power tripping, it's the one whining about getting kicked out after posting an incredibly stupid and rude response.

And, Deceptichum, you came here and lied about why you were banned just to try to get revenge on the mod. Your ban had nothing to do with additional perspectives, and you knew it when you made the claim here. Maybe, the only honesty you've exhibited is your name.

2025-Mar-14: I scaled up the DB cluster from regular SSD drives to nVME drives, and moved from regular Intel CPUs to Premium AMD CPUs. nVME is significantly faster in all metrics than regular SSD drives. The improvement should be significant.

The load values are much lower than they were before, so, so far, so good.

Please let me know if you notice any issues.

I'm seeing signs that the DB Cluster is struggling at times and during peak activity it may become a bottleneck. The application server is cruising.

This evening, I'm going to scale up the DB cluster from regular SSD drives to nVME drives, and move from regular Intel CPUs to Premium AMD CPUs. nVME is significantly faster in all metrics than regular SSD drives. The improvement should be significant.

There shouldn't be any downtime unless something goes wrong.

It seems that at about 16:14 UTC, Wasabi, which we use for storing images, began having problems in both their us-east-1 and us-east-2 regions. We use us-east-1. The problems have been happening for a number of hours. While us-east-2 is back up, according to their status, https://status.wasabi.sys/, us-east-1 remains problematic due to a power outage.

The last update at 19:59 UTC: Update - Power has been fully restored to the us-east-2 region. We are continuing the process of restoration to the us-east-1 region and will update this page as we have more information.

This post from Rimu from Piefed.social also pertains to accounts here at https://feddit.online/. Private voting can be enabled the same way.
