A few years ago Windows invented a new sleep state, s0ix, instead of the previous s3 state. This makes a laptop behave more like a phone, able to wake up when it receives new data.

Unfortunately this is usually implemented badly and also causing the removal or neglect of previously reliable s3 sleep.

That was the term, thanks

Your root disk is usually mounted at Z: so any ransomware could just encrypt that

Note sure what they're called, but plenty of houses here have metal blinds on the outside that work perfectly for blocking the sun.

Blame Apple for that, as for the longest time they only allowed using the Safari engine on iOS. Apparently that's still the case outside the EU now, meaning Mozilla would need to maintain two versions on iOS.

On any other operating system, Firefox is by far the best at blocking ads with uBlock Origin.

AFAIK the B580 would only be a moderate upgrade for you, the 9060 XT would be the bigger jump, likely worth the extra cost.

As they note in the article, this is a temporary measure, I.E. guaranteed to break soon.

Start switching to Firefox now so you're done when they finally turn it of. Ignore any other Chromium based browsers, it's unlikely they have the manpower to extend MV2 beyond what Google supports with their LTS releases.

These devices can be used locally according to Ars comments, but it should be a requirement to release one last update that makes sure local only setup and usage is working.

BTRFS with LUKS (OpenSUSE gets close), but using rEFInd as bootloader. Snapper snapshots, Zram.

I'm actually thinking about switching to systemd-boot with Secure Boot, TPM2 and stuff, so even further from mainstream installers.

Cyberpunk in general is rarely happy. You might not die that day, but the world is still going to shit and you're just one step from tragedy.
