The country started life as a prison with prison rules, seems they forgot to get rid of those rules when they became a real country

Retail beef prices are soaring, but I can tell you from the other end, auction sale prices of market weight steers sure as fuck hasn't gone up that much.

Lot of squeezing happening in the middle somewhere. Curious, that one.

ah yes, tough immigration talk in a country with an actively collapsing population

That's gonna go over well

Its just like any other super henious piece of legislation that removes human rights. They give it some sweet helpful sounding name (eg. Patriot Act) so when anyone votes against it they can point fingers and say "THIS COMMUNIST HATES PATRIOTS!" or (eg. Kids Online Safety Act) "THIS EVIL BASTARD DOESNT WANT TO PROTECT KIDS!!!"

Its a fascist habit as old as time itself.

They only get forced out when they get caught.

Immoral liars are mandatory for C-suite positions otherwise.

Well, looks like the children's fate will also be Russian cannon fodder at this rate...

Advertising a Chevrolet as luxury is kind of ironic. Even their high trim specs were pretty bare bones.

If you really wanted luxury, get a Cadillac.

Ohhh, then the db bot replies. Thanks

Absolutely not.

All I will ask is that you go have a look at lemmygrad.ml before you vote, and ask yourself if there is anything posted there you think warrants keeping them defederated?

This is the wrong question. The correct question is, "has something materially changed at lemmygrad.ml since we defederated from them, and has it changed sufficiently to warrant refederation?"

My issue with grad was never their local content. Yes they have shitty propagandized tankie takes and deepthroat Mao and the North Korean state all the time, but I always filtered and blocked those sorts of communities, which is any user's perogative. Hell, since we can blanket instance block on a user level these days, it's even easier.

The issue was always their users picking fights outside of their instance and actively spreading dangerous misinformation in every community they can get their fingers in; then their admins doing nothing, if not actively encouraging, this sort of bad faith engagement. Grad, hex and ml would all to varying degrees end up on many news comms and try to flood them with a certain viewpoints. And if you get into their space with an opposing view point (e.g urgyhur genocide) you will be banned more often than not.

Look back in history and see why we defedded. Db0 made the call early on because he also realized they do not make any arguements in good faith and are, for any purposes, just fascists with a different kind of red flag that were directly antithetical to this lemmy's principles. They were not worth the added moderation load to manage their users when they would get into our local comms then. And I doubt they're worth it now.

I opened their site, and right off the bat I see at least three usernames I recognize as bad faith actors that I previously blocked, I can only assume their administrative structure has not changed a bit. Refederating will be a net negative for db0.

Off topic: I forgot how the governance system works, can someone link the post where it was implemented because I'm on mobile and search is really hard here. I don't know how to see my vote tallied. ~___~

It probably was an active document started as early as the 1970s and that's just a way to do it. Had to be paper they didn't have anything else. Take note cards, write (Or typewrite, or print) the info on them, paste them into a book. Remove old cards as they need to be updated. Easier to package vs a rolodex. Even into the 2000s, old habits die hard and it is easier to maintain security of a single physical copy.

I guarantee all of these threads are already being purged by /r/con mods

Tf is the point of bike lanes if they can be blocked in???

It was nice knowing Raspberry Pi while they lasted. Going to suck losing something that has changed the homegrown embedded system hobby forever.

Context for the inexperienced: these are cone seat GM lugnuts, the cone portion is supposed to face IN towards the wheel as they are self centering, not OUT... guy didn't know wtf he was doin

Firefox latest on Android 14, web front-end

Images seem to work fine now after the 19.4 upgrade.
Except when posting images via direct upload. I've tried to post an image with body description a couple times now to another community and as soon as I hit submit, it just instantly removes the image and doesn't post anything, leaving me on the create post page.

Edit: Pretty sure this is a front end bug as I had to hit submit twice to make this post. When you hit submit it jumps to the top of the page first.

Legend: Candidate Name (party, %of vote)

Vote tallies current as of 12:30am PST, May 22nd 2024
(Due to lower voter turnout in primaries, most ballots are already counted by this time and these totals are unlikely to change significantly by the election certification date.)

Please see title link to the official Secretary of State page for complete and accurate election results.

Statewide Positions
Secretary of State: Tobias Read (D, 71%) will run against disgraced state senator (who is barred from running for senate) Dennis Linthicum (R, 65%)

State Treasurer: Elizabeth Steiner (D, 78%) will run against another disgraced state senator who is barred from running, Brian Boquist (R, uncontested)

Attorney General: Dan Rayfield (D, 76%) will run against Will Lathrop (R, 64%)

Other Notable Contested Races:
US Representative, 3rd Dist: Current State Rep Maxine Dexter (D, 50.7%) beats out former Multnomah county commissioner Susheela Jayapal (D, 28.5%)

State Representative, 12th Dist: Darin Harbick (R, 82%) beats out current representative Charlie Conrad (R, 18%) for the republican nomination. No other candidates filed for any other party, so Harbick is the de-facto winner of the position.
Conrad faced this primary challenge by Harbick due to his Yes vote on HB2002 that created legal protections for abortion rights and transgender care. Conrad was publicly censured and disowned by the state Republican Party due to his vote not toeing the party line. Read more here.

Personally Irksome:
State Senate District 28: Diane Linthicum (R, 59%), the wife and co-conspirator of disgraced senator Dennis Linthicum, beats out current Klamath County Commissioner Dave Henslee (R, 41%) for the republican nomination. No other candidates filed for any other party, so Linthicum is the de-facto winner of the position.
Mrs. Linthicum has no real world qualifications to be Senator beyond being the husband of the current disgraced Senator, and has all but openly said she is only running to be the mouth of her husband as to bypass the election restrictions.

Notable core gameplay changes:

  • you can now claim authorship of NPC ships after you hack them so that npc pcu limits are correct (and your ownership is also correct)
  • destroyed cargo containers now have a temporary storage item that drops with everything in it instead of puking out 750 thousand items and creating a lag bomb
  • there is now a communications block that can send chat messages
  • there is now ways to wirelessly send actions between grids, a HUGE advancement to automation

This is shaping up to be a fantastic core update. Looking forward to playing it.

As I'm graduating college in a few weeks, I'll be losing access to my university's free printers and filament. I'm going to build up a home lab with a couple printers where I can make goofy little mechanical projects as well as some components for my cars and stuff.

Who's your go-to for PLA and ABS/ASA filaments? Those will be my primary print jobs in any serious volume. I know our college's club has had hella problems with random chinese brand filaments not printing consistently but I also don't want to spend $30+ per kg for something like Prusament.

Conrad has secured a huge amount of aid for his district (HD12). But he also supported HB2002 (the abortion/gender care access bill) and the state party ditzes are mad about it.

Looking into his stances and voting history he seems super level headed. Since the district is likely to go Republican regardless, he should be supported over the other party-line man.

If that's not the textbook image of rats leaving a sinking ship, I don't know what is. "Fuck you. Got mine!"

The price pump that conveniently happened immediately after release sure was nice for Pig Boy Huffman, wasn't it.

Data on short positions become available tomorrow (April 9th) as referenced in this article so the roller coaster is only just getting started. It's gonna get wild once the market realizes what a house of cards Reddit is built on.
