The Genie reacted exactly the way Genies do.

I wouldn't want to associate with an app that's ripping off YouTube when you're an app trying to make a better YouTube.
But also, this is open source. Who are you to say that funding an effort should go to one place and not another? I think the people who actually put effort into Peertube are best place to determine what's good for the project.
I think you need to take the tin foil hat off mate.
IPv4 in many places has RAN OUT. No more, zilch.
Most people can get a fully functioning CGNAT address and surf the IPv4 web just fine.
Most VPS providers will give you IPv4 and IPv6 just fine.
So really the only issue is for the 10-20% of people who need to host an online service, security camera or online game system that doesn't have a server or rendezvous service.
Even if you can mental gymnastics into believing this won't affect you, we know that's the way Plex is going. How long until it does?
Or each person alive could have 46 Octillion addressable devices on them.
Ok maybe phone dependence has gone too far at that point.
Windows has gotten so fucked lately, by the time I finally convince it to use the browser I want I still end up getting shown ads for Doom and Tiktok - even on a work domain joined computer.
It'll almost certainly never work. You'd need to write high level software that can interpret pictures on any display manager, and even then Linux would never do it.
Would literally just speed up the adoption of RISC.
Or it'll more likely turn me off computer usage all together, and I'll go live in the woods.
This is why authoritarianism should be aggressively stamped out, before they can do stuff like this and Minority Report.
Because they're not some parasitic company that needs to buy up and incentivise games to come to your platform.
Releasing on steam deck will bring more sales. I don't even own a steam deck and will only buy steam deck titles myself.
Still didn't critically break any of the good operating systems though. Because no other operating system would run Crowdstrike as a critical "must be present" driver.

I work with someone who does 9-5 in the next state, a messily -4 hours away.
They get to work when I have lunch, when I'm waiting on something from them in the afternoon they're just dealing with morning shit. When their system crashes at 4:50 in the afternoon as usual I'm making dinner.
So does this colleague suddenly have to work 9-5 in +0 time. Or do they keep working real 9-5?
Worst of all, he sees a bit of daylight on the sunrise commute home. Yet I as a +10 would never see the sun.
How do you propose any of this work?
