A redsails bot really is long overdue, time to look into how Lemmybots work

It's interesting reading. Seems a lot of sole maintainers have been removed, so lots of important parts will start breaking. There's also a lot of acknowledgement in the comments that chinese developers are an essential part of Linux development nowadays. And the US just gave China a very good reason to not collaborate on their projects, and there'll be plenty rightly pissed off Russian developers who'll be looking for something else to work on..

Just as the US is losing economic dominance, I wonder if this is the beginning of similarly losing its dominance in software development.

Honestly nobody should ever really be shaming for forking. It is the basis of all open software and all successful software development in history. Linux itself is obviously just a fork of Minix with GNU. And it is the traditional means of open-source and forking with which communities can and should quickly move away from bullshit like this to prevent corporate/government monopolization of it.

The previous poll being compared was January 2020, i.e. predating global pandemic (or at least knowledge thereof).

Instead we currently have the grand fascist alliance of Western Europe + US against the less grand fascist Russia.

improve-society except the peasant is your step-snake snake. You're the very-intelligent guy.

It's such a brainless take that's unempathetic at its core. It dresses up agonised cries of anguish as crocodile tears to then conclude that all is fine, no thought needed.

It's not that I think votes make 0% difference, it's just that I think they make 0.001% difference, and should be given the same percentage of one's thought and effort.

I'd personally argue it has about one iota of material difference. Like literally the smallest possible effect. Voting isn't useless, it's just very very incredibly useless.

Given a small allocation can take only a few hundred cycles, and this would take at minimum a few seconds, it's probably between a billion and a trillion times slower.

I'm happy where my country stands at, thanks.

There it is. "I don't care about anyone else, I like how my life is and want the status quo". Do direct action and organise to help OTHERS, if your country is a super paradise then do direct action to pressure your government into condemning genocide. Sadly I think you won't ever resort to actually doing something to help.

It's not worth engaging, really. You clearly know all this and actually just don't give a fuck.

By supporting Dems you're helping the party that literally helped build a fucking wall next to Mexico, proposed hundreds of millions for expanding it, deregulate every single industry that's willing to give them money, oversaw the destruction of Roe v Wade, and countless billions on funding genocide and overseas war. The Democrats are trying to create a whole new border agency dedicated to ripping people out of their homes, just to prove how hard they are on immigration. Your support for Dems isn't showing any support to anyone whatsoever right now, it's just helping genocide and oppression.
