I love this show. That's all. It's the most horror-esque media I can consume, the cinematography is actually really impressive, almost every scene is amazingly composed. The writing is very corny at times, but a lot of the cliche tropes it uses were basically made cliche by The X-Files.

This is actually among the most clear-cut ethical things a person can possibly do at the moment. Utter respect.

In bad country, you can't sing and work at the same time or the overseer will reprimand you and you will be made homeless and starve

they’re less like the meeting room of a communist party than like the bar where those communists hang out and drink beer, after the meeting is over.

I actually really like this description. I'm amazed at the number of people in this thread who actually somewhat get it. It's heartening <3

My biggest issue is the radical will often be a conscientious, complex rebel with well thought through motives that makes good points about improving society; Then a scene of them needlessly stomping a kitten or killing innocents is suddenly inserted, to ensure all complexity is immediately removed and pretend they never had a point.

A bit late to be honest, she made the connection years ago and frequently calls out the west as having a racist, oppressive system of capitalism which must be overthrown to solve climate change.

She said: “We are never going back to normal again because ‘normal’ was already a crisis. What we refer to as normal is an extreme system built on the exploitation of people and the planet.

“It is a system defined by colonialism, imperialism, oppression and genocide by the so-called global North to accumulate wealth that still shapes our current world order.”

I mean she basically said it word for word over two years ago.

This won't work. Shattered spark plugs break windows because they're super sharp, but they're only sharp when freshly broken. If you break it and carry around the bits all day, they'll wear down and lose their edge. This is basically how magicians make shattered glass you can walk on.

I remember the old pre-millenium video games would come in a giant cardboard box to make buying a tiny floppy disk feel more worthwhile.

Pointlessly inflating packaging should just be illegal, it's pure wastefulness.

As someone who isn't much into sports, you absolutely cannot write it off as a waste of time money and human life, any more than anything else.

As well as being a pursuit many people love and have a good time with, most local sports are about building a local community, so you socialise and make friends, which is one of the healthiest and funnest things you can do in this world.

And if nothing else at all, sports are typically a moderate-intensive exercise, meaning for someone otherwise sedentary, spending an hour playing football might give a return on lifetime by 2-4 hours, as well as improving mood, function, health, etc etc benefits of exercise.

Me too. The bullying came from other kids, others' parents, and the teachers! It's taken me decades to dip my toes back into sports and realise they're actually enjoyable in the right contexts.
