Just use systemd-sudo to replace network manager with systemd-networking

People don't hijack planes because the cockpit is inaccessible and hijackers know they'd get dogpiled. The Lockerbie bomb was in the cargo hold. TSA fails the vast majority of simulated attacks. It's security theater and a jobs program

Have y'all not heard of zotero?

They're an excellent way to expose yourself to way more people than you would in real life. But the people who've been using them for a long time tend to have a warped mindset of very high standards. If they drop the person they're currently seeing they can line up another date within a week. That's been my experience in the 20s demographic, but maybe the older crowd is different

Incredible graphic. The bicep tattoo. The baby carriage. It's perfect

What's your take on how they want you to use their software? I throw down bullet points in the journal, tag them with big overarching themes, and link to old journal entries sometimes. Am I missing something important?

It's called dry oven canning. The oven heats up the contents of the mason jar, so when I put the lids on and let them cool, the air inside comes to a lower pressure and we get a vacuum seal. Same notion as you see with jars of salsa, where the little circle on the lid pops up only once you crack the seal

The cool thing about mason jars is they're reusable. This let me buy the big tub of powder at half the price per oz, and cost me a few cents in gas. This is how we put one over on Big Liquid, my friend

Sorry if this is a bit off topic. I want to learn more about what protective gear is recommended at a protest. The obvious threats I want to be less susceptible to are CS gas, rubber bullets to the face, and LRAD. So I want impact protection and no unfiltered airflow for my eyes (and ideally the rest of my face), filtration for my nose and mouth, and hopefully earplugs and earmuffs. Solutions I’ve thought of:

  • half face respirator and some sort of goggles. Not bad but what goggles are both airtight and impact resistant?
  • half face respirator and doubling up eye protection? May not be practical
  • full face respirator. Chinesium is $30, 3M is around $110. Does that include impact protection? Not sure. They may get in the way of earmuffs, too
  • Milsurp gas mask. Probably fits the bill, though may get in the way of earmuffs. Are they at all ergonomic compared to contractor/industrial stuff?

So yeah, lots of questions. Anyone know of any good resources discussing this?

I left a little after 9. Did anyone wind up getting arrested? Any vandalism? Tear gas, rubber bullets?

Rather than manually or periodically letting tasks run from Scheduled Tasks, is there a way to run tasks when I start playing a file? For instance, if I start playing an episode of a show I'd like to at least have jellyfin check for matching subtitles and scan it for intro-skipper audio fingerprints.

The rollout of RCS on iMessage has been confusing to me. I know some carriers like Mint don't yet support iMessage RCS; the company's founder has said that it's something on their end that will be fixed around December. But I've also seen some people on Apple's forums pointing fingers at Apple.

I want to get a better understanding of what the holdup is. How does the iMessage RCS bridge work? What are the technical challenges? Why was every carrier not working on this for months and prepared for the iOS 18 rollout? And if I'm using Google Messages on an MVNO that doesn't yet support iMessage RCS, does that imply I can't RCS message an iPhone user on a carrier that does support it?

I noticed this hole when I got to work in the morning. It lets out enough air that I can hear it when I try to inflate the tire. What are my options here, aside from buying and mounting a new tire? Is this fixable with liquid sealant? A rubber rope kit?

I'm not taking this bike past 90mph, so any fix doesn't need to be capable of withstanding incredibly high stress. But I don't want to be unsafe, either. Thanks for the help.
