There's some dedicated Lemmy migration software, which copies your old subscriptions and probably other settings to your new account. At least, I remember using when I switched from .world to .dbzer0 quite some time ago. So you don't have to hesitate from looking for a different instance to register on.

Though on the other hand I don't know of anyone who became murderous over being forced to use a wheelchair / crutches / pain meds either.

I do agree with your overall point where you'd prefer to be agnostic regarding this whole issue, but that's also exactly why I wouldn't go off into theorising either about what is required to make a man want to kill a healthcare insurance CEO, or what kind of a person Mangione "seems like".

He had reddit and Goodreads profiles, where he left comments and book reviews which might be used to judge his writing style (also his own handwriting may be analysed, comparing it to that of the manifesto). Although the "manifesto" is very short so maybe not enough language treaits could be extrapolated from it.

but hadn’t actually hurt Mangione or anybody he cared about, AFAIK

Mangione supposedly had chronic health issues that may have been the basis of hatred for the health insurance business - https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/12/11/luigi-mangione-back-pain-healthcare-shooting/

Yep, I mean his take is not quite opposite of yours, as it uses the same units and has a similar idea on his mind, just one step is opposite.

Back when I read the article first time, I tried to figure out the details - I suppose they wouldn't immediately swap places but would first have a "fission" of *a (= trad. *e) + H into *e, *a, *o, and then *ə (trad. *o) > *o, which might(?) be a more natural late PIE triangular vowel system that would then, I suppose(?), lead to the later outcomes more naturally. So I guess I don't see the swapping?

But I might be talking absolute nonsense since I don't have a satisfyingly firm grasp on traditional PIE reconstruction either... D:

Well, exactly, that sort of social Darwinism is just so antiscientific and also generally antisocial I don't think a person with any self-awareness in a remotely serious academic context could put it to paper. I've seen it online, yes, but that's not what OP tweet is addressing...

Is this an actual thing those researchers say? I've never heard a person with higher education saying shit like this.

[–] antonim 4 points 3 months ago

Any good free alternatives?

That's honestly enraging!? Such data can be greatly valuable for learners, and the native speakers' community, and linguistics.

I just searched for it on Play store, and jesus christ the search is so bad it has only turned up SPD and "Rearranged PD", the rest is unrelated garbage that has almost nothing to do with the keywords. So I wouldn't even worry too much about this scam version, it's buried god knows where...

The game is free and open source. The original version called "Pixel Dungeon" has actually been taken down from Play store due to lack of maintenance, but the torch is being carried on by the mods (Shattered PD being the most prominent). This scammy version seems to be aiming to come off as the original.
