ohh yeah, dear tourists it's fine to stack rocks on beaches and stuff, like there is a great spot near Harpa, the concert hall, just not on the highlands
anaesidemus
those rock piles are a big nuisance in Iceland, we have our own centuries old waymarkers that can still serve a purpose as long as the tourists stop making new ones
"combat aged male"
can you believe that they originally split from the socdems because they didn't want to become Blairites?
The worst political instincts known to man.
- Abandoning other left-wing coalition options in favour of the poisoned apple that is a coalition with right wing conservative Independence party and the centrist Progressive party, the same parties that got us into the banking crisis. They betrayed the working class and tried to tame the beast after the Independence party had just wiped out Björt Framtíð in a previous coalition
- Sticking with them through scandal after scandal to appear responsible.
- The party leader and prime minister deciding to run for president, it had apparently always been a dream of hers but the timing couldn't have been worse.
- Not taking part in a temporary government after the new prime minister, Teflon-Bjarni, dissolved the old one and called for election
The People's party have emerged as kingmakers in the next government of Iceland.
The only workable coalitions must include them to get a majority in parliament.
We have the blessed option of S - C - F
S and C hate D and M, so it's up to F to choose what happens. The party leaders of S C and F have already started informal talks and political flirting in the media.
People are also talking about the three left wing parties, Socialists, Pirates, Left greens, that did not cross the 5% threshold to access the voting district equalization system, leaving 20.000 voters without constituents. There have been talks of uniting the parties and/or lowering the threshold.
just transparency in governance mainly, their main problem has been lack of grounding ideology. I lost interest in them when they were droning on about not being right or left and called it an outdated terminology
Results are in from Iceland parliament election. Those are not their official names btw
Socdems win big
Conservatives do better than polls suggested
Right wing europhile party do well
People's party (leftist rhetoric without theory) do surprisingly well, wonder if they manage to get in a coalition
Racist conservatives do well, i hate them
Centrist progressive party, lose a lot of MP's, kinda sad, their ministers were doing good work, for centrists
Socialist party fail to get enough votes to get an MP, hope my comrades have studied Lenin
Pirate party wiped out, good riddance, haven't had any grassroot mobilization for years
Left-greens wiped out, good riddance, betrayed the working class and showed incredibly bad political instincts
Racist party, not enough votes
Covid sceptic party, lol
Most likely coalition, Socdems, Right wing europhile party and either People's party or perhaps Centrist progressive party
Still love Klopp, for his humanity and personality, but this Slot guy seems to know what he is doing.
this is a common sentiment here, but the "lagoon" is just runoff from the geothermal powerplant which is kind of important. If we could keep the power plant but scuttle the "lagoon" I would be happy
There is even another blue lagoon up north!
of course the tourism association has been pointing out that the presence of the tourist trap gives billions of ISK to the national treasury, but I don't really care what they think
Sure, unless your bedroom is in the highlands
