Tesla is indeed the exception.

Perhaps, but he does have a point.

Boycotts, protests, press articles and just public opinion in general used to be powerful tools to influence companies and politicians.

But they have lost their effectiveness, because companies and politicians have figured out ways to make themselves immune to boycotts and protests.

They have engineered society to make us all dependent and confused.

It used to be, every product in the supermarket had a smallish company behind it, and that company was very sensitive to public opinion. There was always competition ready to steal market share.

Now all the brands are just labels for a few giant corporations. You simply can't boycott them. If one brand becomes the target of a boycott, a different brand from the same or another multinational will get the money, perhaps through a store brand.

That was my thought, too. He can't quit, because he has to help Israel.

To be honest, if I were an American Jew, I would be getting worried. Right now, everything might seem fine and dandy. The immigrants, muslims, Latinos, trans and leftists are being targeted, not Jews.

But Yaakov Shapiro already warned, the Zionist messaging is painting a target on the back of Jews, by telling the world that they are loyal to Israel instead of their own country, the USA.

And when the fascists really have the power, then they won't care about deporting poor Haitian and latino immigrants. They'll just let them work for slave wages.

No, they will start setting their sights on how to take stuff away from rich minorities.

You just know Elon Musk will gladly take over Meta and OpenAI from Mark Zuckerberg and Sam Altman.

Thanks for sharing.

I just want to say one thing though. With drones, guns are no longer the big equalizers that they used to be.

If you ever get in a standoff with government fascists, they will just use drones.

I saw the videos of how Azerbeidzjan just totally obliterated heavily armed Armenian positions using Bayraktar drones.

This shit is scary as fuck. I wouldn't be surprised if, within 25 years from now, 90% of the world is living under authoritarian regimes.

Which is why I think being part of a very large community with solidarity among all members will be key.

Any small group will just be labeled as terrorists and obliterated.

I once read an article many years about how arsonists were burning expensive cars in Berlin. The journalist indeed reported that they would light barbecue starters under the tires.

If I recall correctly, they would even place it a little bit further under the car (i.e. not the outside) so that any passerbys wouldn't notice anything until the tire was properly burning.

This was before Tesla's though, which have a sentry mode

With the more recent cases, I have read that they smash the windows and throw Molotov cocktails inside, but I think that would draw a lot of attention and make alarms go off.

On the other hand, I think this method might have less risk of the sentry mode filming.

The bible doesn't say marriage is between a man and a woman. In fact, the bible doesn't even say much about male homosexuality, and it says nothing about lesbian relationships. And it doesn't even say a lot about marriage at all.

You can take away from the bible that male homosexuality is sinful. It says enough to draw that conclusion. So for those Christians who try to read the Bible as an instruction manual - fair enough.

But it also says slavery is OK, which is why the very religious confederates fought a war to keep slavery.

For actual Christians who profess to follow the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles, accepting homosexuals is quite similar to rejecting slavery.

In both cases, the appeal is to the higher morality of the primary commandments (love God and love your neighbor) instead of trying to justify wickedness against the weak with an appeal to scripture - which is what the Pharisees did and what Jesus condemned.

Agreed, this article would have made sense in 2020 or earlier.

And now we have the fediverse, which is causing a resurgence of content that is independent of Reddit or Discord.

At some point, a wireless mesh of towers will also be connected to the internet by fiber.

I don't know if your are autistic, AI or just an asshole.

But the context is rural broadband internet, someone said you have to build out a fiber network, I said you can just roll-out 5G and use MiFi, which is in fact the most common solution for rural broadband internet worldwide.

I never meant to imply that you can run broadband without a single fiber cable.

Thanks, never heard of SimpleX, but I will check it out.

But to make an analogy. Bitcoin wasn't good for privacy at first. But they added features and new coins like Monero were developed with strong privacy.

So I expect there will eventually be a private ActivityPub, either "on top of" or "next to" the current one.

Two things.

One, I would get a gun and find a trustworthy community if I were a leftist or minority American.

As much as I despise guns, if shit gets Gilead bad, you'll probably be happy to have it.

As for community, if you don't have one yet, I would recommend joining either a socialist club or a progressive/traditional (i.e. not racist) Christian church. A black church (think MLK), or a pride flag flying liberal Church (think John Brown).

When Nazi's invaded my country, these were the two communities that actually resisted, by fighting back and helping people hide and escape. In times of slavery, socialism wasn't yet a thing, so the abolitionists and underground railroad people were progressive Christians. Jesus was the OG socialist and these communities live it.

In my opinion, we really need decentralized, self-hosted infrastructure.

I kind of hope we get a Fediverse alternative for WhatsApp.

I imagine running some kind of relay node on a raspberry pi, for perhaps 20-100 acquaintances. All traffic would be anonymized and encrypted as much as possible. Push notifications replaced by polling. Anonymous broadcast groups that allow anonymous sending and receiving of messages without revealing either who is sending or who is receiving.

Everything wiped every few minutes on the relay node.

Others would also run relays that are then federated together.

Older millenial here.

Lately I have started to realize, we are the new boomers.

The number of my co-millenials I see complaining about Gen Z with the exact same talking points that boomers had about us is kinda ironic.
