You can still be happy in your 50s and beyond.

We don't have one. Running a search engine is expensive and you can no longer just run on endless amounts of VC. You need a way to make money somehow. Kagi might be the closest (I haven't tried it because Google is still generally usable for me, but I've heard good things), but it's not free.

Even if you're not techy, you can just give your phone to a friend. The obvious downside to that is that if things go horrible and you need your phone to call for help, you can't.

If you force your kids to sneak around, you force them into taking needless risks.

Okay, that I can see. When people mention the original Star Wars I think of A New Hope (which isn't particularly Vietnam-y), not Return of the Jedi.

So is Vietnam. It's an authoritarian one-party state with no political freedoms, no free press etc.

And most people prefer content algorithms. Or maybe a better way of phrasing it would be they're used to and expect content algorithms. Having to actively search for and follow topics is not only yet another hoop users have to jump through (good UX has as few steps as possible to get you where you want, a good chunk of users jumps ship at every step) it also requires that they know which hashtags are being used for the content they want to see beforehand, which might be difficult for you if you relied on content algorithms before.

What gave you the idea that I support our current car-centric infrastructure? I don't, for multiple reasons clean air being one of them. But that's not an issue that can be addressed with one law, smoking in public is.

Your freedom ends where mine begins.

Exactly. And if your freedom to enjoy a public space requires you to impact the enjoyment and health of others that's where your freedom ends.

Because smoking anything in public is always intruding on everybody else's right to not have an increased risk of lung cancer. And it smells horrible. I'm fine with smoking in areas where everyone has consented to it, but public spaces like outdoor seating in restaurants aren't that.
