liftoff has been by far the most usable for me

Liftoff app has been much better than Connect for me
this seems to be the only way I can get this to work - if I search [email protected] in liftoff, nothing comes up. searching [email protected] (no '!') then it does come up via lemmy.world and I can't subscribe since I'm not logged in through lemmy.world. pasting that link above to access through programming.dev (my 'home' instance?) allows me to subscribe through the liftoff app.

I'm torn on this and haven't decided what to do. At the very least they will not be getting my knowledge posted over there any longer.

same here - I can get it to work if the community is linked in a post (such as [email protected]). searching that same string yield no results unless someone else has linked to that community in a post.
