They are hoping Iran will fold and negotiate again (surrender). Trump is openly calling for it over and over, while standing right on the brink. It's very clear he's hesitant to go forward and thought they would surrender

flatten Iran with the USAF and minimize the amount of damage done to the rest of world's economy

This is an insane plan. Iran provides like 5% of global oil, and even severely "flattened" they can mine and control the strait of hormuz, which would shut down about 30-40% of the world's oil. They could knock out desalination plants in the gulf states and create tens or hundreds of millions of refugees.

Only thing Khamenei being killed would do is accelerate Iran's nuclear program

while there is a bit of squabbling over the corpse of syria going on, i think it's moreso an erdogan posturing for his domestic audience situation

yeah but they also do have a lot of dirty tricks, it does worry me but nothing to do but be more vigilant and ride out whatever blow is inflicted if it comes

no big century-defining moment either from iran?

both sides chickening out? last minute negotiations happening via backchannels? calm before the storm?

other than the name seems spot on. I've long been despairing about Pez and I bet it's his people leaking like sieves. Lock em up, they should be put in a padded cell for the next few months as the hardliner adults handle the war they stumbled into. Why are the only rational faction in Iranian politics the absolute hardline theocrats? It's so weird how there's not any more rational and loyal socially progressive factions, even if they are conservatives by our standards, given how educated and developed Iran is?

I do think after this is all said and done Iran needs to look inwards and do some major reforms, they need to advance socially and make whole some contradictions that have been chewing their social fabric apart. We love Iranian hardliner's foreign policy stances, but they have a lot of enemies for being absolute shit heels to their own people too. Obviously right now is not the time though, now is the time for unity and war. Sometimes war is illuminating and progresses a society, like China in WW2 or the American Civil War leading to slavery being abolished and the slaves freed even though neither side even wanted that at the start.

I will support any action which will further the aims of de-colonizing and liberating these areas from the grips of global capital. I don’t want to hear any nonsense about reverse imperialism or annexation fretting. They should all be annexed or re-constituted.
