BATAVIA – Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown was picked on Thursday to lead Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corp., setting in motion an end to the longest-running mayoral administration in the city’s history.

The WROTB board, which went to elaborate lengths to keep secret Brown’s candidacy for president and chief executive officer, selected the Democratic mayor over two other finalists following a more than five-hour closed-to-the-public executive session at Batavia Downs Gaming & Hotel.

In a statement emailed late Thursday, Brown said he appreciated "the vote of confidence in me and my record of success as Mayor of Buffalo."

"At this point, a contract still needs to be negotiated before the position is accepted. I look forward to meeting with the chairman of the board to start the process toward final approval of a contract," he said. "In the meantime, I will continue to serve in my capacity as Mayor."

How would y'all handle this? Do I just give up on refuting this crap? I have a lot of jewish friends, and this shit really drives my anger/anxiety through the roof, so I do not think I can just have a rational convo. But I also don't wanna sit next to racist crap being spewed and say nothing.

I could find another living situation, but it's like an hour away from where all my friends/other fam live and I have already asked these people for a ton of favors.

Anyway, some months ago I complained about their views on Israel, drunkenly called them unintentionally racist to a mutual friend, they found out and hated on me for a while.

So anyway, I've been spending time with them, and they legitimately hate Israel now. It's come up enough times that I can tell they legitimately hate them for being right wing.

Is there something happening in the Lib media bubble, or did they just actually realize Israel sucks? I know this is some nerd shit but it bothers me I can't wrap my head around it.

These groups are hilarious. Four Our Future, In Union, Democracy for All, and now this new one I just joined with a name I forget.

They keep popping up with new names, but I am starting to get the feeling they are just the same entities laundering money or some shit. Even funnier, they are all anti union while canvassing (without saying so usually) for pro union candidates. In Union, of course, was the most aggressively anti union one I have been a part of. For Our Future had a union, but the hiring managers lied about the union and hoped people wouldn't find out. This new one I joined I swear is just Democracy for All with a different name.

I suspect these groups notice their employees trying to unionize. They realize it is a bad look when they fight a union while supporting a(n allegedly) pro union lib on the ballot. Then the next time they need to start canvassing they decide to have a new name so they can fight off the union again before shit gets real.

This is what I'm starting to think. She obviously can't win a primary, even with her experience at VP. This is their only shot. They tried really hard to make her a thing in 2020.
