who do you believe is allowed to discuss the issue of the extreme normalization and eroticization of SV in porn

TW: sexual assault

I'm against noncon/dubcon, whatever label they use to mean rape. This porn is usually used to glorify rape, showing graphic depictions. I'm ok with touching on the themes to condemn it, but nothing I've seen has ever needed it to be shown graphically to make a point and instead turns into fetishization (Goblin Slayer, Outlander, Game of Thrones, etc.). Obviously loli/pedo porn fits under this as well (Made in Abyss). When you're aware (like a SA victim), you see rape culture around you and naturally think it is sick. I want glorified graphic depictions of rape banned, but apparently only puritanical, prude christofacists want it banned so they can oppress everyone with morals. Fuck that, there is a reason games like Rapelay, Rape Day, and No Mercy get a bunch of attention and are then banned. I am ok with consensual porn (produced ethically, so not abusing the IRL actors/actresses). I support LGBT+. Too many people do not understand consent. Bringing up CNC is moot if you do not recognize the first word of that acronym. Even reading Lemmy is exhausting when you read comments saying rape should never be prosecuted without evidence excluding testimony (aka most people should get away with rape), and then read people defending rape games. I looked at collective shout's content and g*mers are sending them rape threats. Wtf.

I've dealt with dating people with a video game addiction. We barely spent time together, let alone spoke to each other. And I played video games but didn't spend my entire day doing it to the point of missing eating meals together, ignoring what my partner says to me, neglecting chores, losing sleep, etc. My partner gave me the time of day when they wanted sex, that was it. Ignored for my birthday, dating anniversary, valentines day, etc. I barely had a friend, not really a partner. I was told if I wanted to spend time with them or talk to them, I would have to game with them and join discord with 10 other guys talking at once and playing games. It didn't help that I had little interest in the games they liked and vice versa. And I would hear from other women dealing with the same thing. It's not that we don't have other hobbies or need constant attention, it's that there is very little to no connection going on with our partners. No emotional intimacy erodes relationships.

I like hair mists, they aren't as powerful and can be smelled in close spaces. I do like perfumes but usually can't stand a perfume store, it gives me headaches. I'm not a fan of BO but I sweat a lot, so I have been using a combo of alum crystal + aluminum chloride for underarms (no fragrances) and anti-chafing deodorant lotion for underboobs. I don't think I smell anymore unless I'm exercising.

My first experiences on the internet were riddled with misogyny. As a child, I was told I am lying about being a girl and didn't sound like one. I had many guys tell me "tits or gtfo" when learning I'm a girl, usually after they asked me if I was a girl. I tried playing some multiplayer team games online and was hazed once they found out I was a girl, multiple times. I refuse to play those games now. Even as an adult, I've had gamer guys think I'm great until they learn I'm a feminist, then the hate comes back. I've dated an adult man who belittled me for playing Sims because people with real lives play games like Overwatch. At least mainstream media felt like there were more women around, lemmy just feels more centered for men :/

I get that men are terrified about false rape accusations, even though there is an extremely low chance of it happening, they are afraid. When someone talks about sexual assault, in their mind they feel they need to defend themselves by bringing up false accusations because in their mind it will discourage this crime, bring light to real victims, and thus protect themselves. I'm not a man but this is what I've been told. Then you have victims, who simply want their rapist and other rapists to face justice. They often know others around them who have also been sexually assaulted. When they talk about sexual assault and someone else brings up false accusations, it feels like they don't actually care about the victims and just want to soapbox about false accusations, stealing the spotlight. They might even be a toxic part of the manosphere.

The nature of the crime means it is usually the victim and the perpetrator alone and not in public, and the victim is more likely to know who the assaulter is. It can be a family member, friend, partner, etc. There usually isn't much evidence to prove sexual assault. So we have a problem. As you said, you don't believe a hefty amount of these sexual assaults should have laws enforced on them. I don't have a solution, other than a suggestion that people should be more empathetic towards victims. And not ask questions like yours to victims.

questions like these are unproductive

  1. How many rapists are you ok with letting go free so that you or someone you know doesn't have to go to prison for something they didn't do? 1,000? 10,000? Every single rapist? Is it better to let every single criminal go free so that you do not have to go to prison?

  2. Do you think rape/sexual assault don't happen?

[–] YarrMatey 3 points 1 week ago

Not sure if you were just reiterating, but yes it is depressing. It takes bravery to step forward knowing that it can cause further damage to oneself. Not just socially but mentally. I don't have a perfect solution to this. But when the perpetrator is Trump, I doubt justice is going to happen.

I absolutely agree. If rape kits are made, they can be backlogged and then degrade, which is extremely depressing to think about.

Threads like this need to be followed up with eyebleach (a community full of cute animals and such).

Lemmy is mostly men, it is hard to share any other perspective. SA is hard to get a conviction in. If there isn't physical evidence like semen, then the victim is called a liar. If there is semen evidence, then the victim is called someone who regretted their choice and is now getting back at the person. (And this is assuming the perpetrator was male, there can be female perpetrators too). A lot of victims do not come forward about what happened because they don't want to be called a liar and labeled a pariah publicly. The absolute shame and rejection when someone doesn't believe you. This subject is pretty sensitive to me and lemmy just really, really disappoints sometimes.

NP, glad I could help.

You can either check SteamDB (login with your steam account) or check steam-tracker for delisted games. You can see it is undeniable that an unholy amount of incest games were removed. There are still some rape games I am waiting to be removed. I'm judging by the title alone, but why the fuck was this ever approved? Also PlayMeow Games got a few of their rape games banned. This Google spreadsheet claims to be tracking what was removed. Hope this helps clear up your denial that this happened. Please note I am vehemently against these type of games and cannot be convinced otherwise.

Perhaps you could tell me why you really want this extreme content on the steam store so I don't misunderstand you, because I am currently extremely unsympathetic towards your comment. I don't see this as atheism vs religion and right vs left. Or that this is supposed to divide whatever your political party is. This is more of how extreme violence towards women and other vulnerable populations have been normalized in media (video games, film, etc.). This content makes me sick to my stomach, I'm not sure if you've seen it but it is extremely graphic and before this month was completely allowed on steam. I wanted steam to put their foot down instead of payment processors. I am relieved these games are being removed, of course my disappointment in valve is unchanged since they didn't care to do this themselves.

It's a shame that anti-porn groups are the ones trying to get incest, pedo, rape, torture, extreme-violence-against-women type media banned, while everyone else either doesn't care or is vehemently against censoring this problematic content because freezepeach. I've been against this media forever, especially after reading that this content lowers empathy towards victims and for pedo stuff actually encourage pedos to enact their fantasies in real life. No one cares, except an anti-porn lobbying group. Goddamn. Valve should have banned this problematic junk from the get go, and now we're here because they wanted to be greedy instead.

Victims can't speak up about this or they get shouted down by g*mers - dehumanized, told to kill themselves, told they shouldn't use the internet, threatened with rape, etc. If you've used the steam forums, you may have noticed a lot of hate-filled alt-right assholes on it.

I do get being angry about that stuff, but maybe they could make their own that is better. After all, things that care about consent like Cute Demon Crashers do exist, we should have more of that.

This group is against all porn so they would never make their own with a focus on consent. Even if they did make one, that wouldn't "convert" the people who have these fetishes as long as their fetish material is still available. If these extreme-fetish games were never offered instead, then this group wouldn't have had a leg to stand on. But now I can see steam banning all adult content instead, again.

How do you gals feel about something like this? This hasn't gone through clinical trials so still early stages.

I had such bad reactions to the Mirena IUD and minipill, I've been on the oral combo BC since then. I wish I didn't need hormones but they help with heavy/painful periods (even skipping them), birth control, and the estrogen helps with acne. I'm not sure if I can give myself a shot 😬 I'm pretty squeamish around needles and bad with pain.

-EDIT- Fixed URL - sorry all

I love the app so far but I am having trouble with opening Lemmy links from other instances. When someone links to say a Lemmy.world post, I am hit with a window saying I have to have a Lemmy.world account in order to vote and such. This is incredibly inconvenient, I don't know how voyager does it but voyager just lets me view the post and vote/etc. in my instance without forcing me to change accounts. Anyway to get rid of this behavior so it is more like voyager? I want other Lemmy links to be opened in my instance so I can vote and such.

Also unrelated but just now I was unable to upload a picture from summit and had to switch apps to upload the photo.
