Essentially, I'm looking for self-destructing messages. I grab a link, I send it to a family member, they read the information, it's gone after they read it, and all they need to have to interact with it is the original link to the url.

Are there any foss solutions by which to just type out a message, send a link to someone and have it be deleted after they read it?

I'm aware that Nextcloud has the ability to share links to users who don't have accounts for temporary spans of time, that's... similar, but I don't believe it can instantly disable after the first visit.

Preferably one with a mod manager/download client. Vortex is kind of janky but it did the job. I’d prefer not to manage any of this stuff manually, like cavemen. it’s been decades you shouldn’t need to do that

MO2 can do anything Vortex can, and in fact, Stalker and Stalker 2 modders prefer it. The files just need to be hosted elsewhere. A lot of modmakers advise against using Vortex to begin with.

Let's break down who's actually going to buy this piece of shit.

Anyone with any experience with buying a modern Android phone?... Nope. Metro, Tello, US Cellular, etc are all cheaper than Trump Mobile by almost half the price and the phone itself is a REVVL variant selling for $500, and Apple fans aren't watching anyway.

So that just leaves extremely uninformed people who don't know any better. You'll be able to identify how little they know by the fact that they'll pay double the going-rate of an MVNO for an overpriced, gold slab of feces.

A lot of Apple fans are tied into their ecosystem, either by profession or just history with the brand. Any Android phone means upending their lives if they depend on their phones for business or pleasure, and a lot of them are Apple fans because Tim Cook keeps Trump 39.5ft away, so they're off the books.

TL/DR: Get ready to see a bunch of boomers walk out of church with gold phones.

I'd just hop a vps around to different countries.

...I'd never do it here, admins, honest lol

Right. At the end of the bullshit, the content still plays to completion if the user hits play. We can script and Ai and remove ads all day long after a program snags the feed.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (2 children)

Imagine adblock re-rencoding software that picks mp4s clean based on repeated content(ads). The user could select each ad as they happen, mark them as such and let it identify them from there. Imagine sharable or federated caches of these ad records between users.

Someone who can code, please, imagine it.

Virtual desktop program that watches videos and uses sponsorblock and adblock after the fact to pick it clean and re-encode it.

I'm that level of anal

I can't tell an honest difference between 1080p and 720p from across a room. On a monitor, sure, but I grew up in the 90's. Anything 480 and above is tolerable to me.

I'm pirating it, should I demand my money back for poor service? Lmao

Yep, sounds about right.

Their idea is that, on a long enough timeline of not having easy goods that we'd become slave labor,... slaver labor, anyway.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 16 hours ago

Needed some stuff but I bought it all used.

Yeah, I would've bought it all used if Trump wasn't our president but that's beside the point.

Welcome to my TED talk. I'm a massive Tool and A Perfect Circle fan, going into this. I knew of Chevelle, the lovechild of Deftones and Tool with a sprinkle of Korn, but I always felt they sounded derivative, but over the last week, I've found a band far deeper than a song about someone who gets angry.

Nobody sounds like Pete Loeffler, and for some of you, that is likely a decently splitting opinion. He strains more than Maynard, but more for effect than difficulty, but he slurs out of feeling like Chino while having really clean fries, but he never goes 200% into a guteral scream like you'd hear in some Deftones tracks that are more on the hardcore side.

There's some Far, and Hum in this band and it almost sounds like a midwest emo band stopped their act entirely and moved to alternative rock one day, but kept some of the stringing, tightly worded lyrics and rhythms.

It's 2000's radio rock, but can that be done well? Well, yeah. I don't know that I would call Chevelle pop, per se, but for some odd reason, they can fit between a Britney Spears song and a Slipknot track and work. Any time feels like an ok time to hear a Chevelle track. Dude speeding from the cops? "Young Wicked". School Prom? "Shameful Metaphors". "Antisaint" could be played by any local band at a bar... sans the bridge because goddamn that bridge.

Their changes are subtle between albums, but at the same time, more distinct as time goes along. I think this is more due to losing the chains of being huge and having more artistic freedom in their later years. I'd like to vote that Sci-Fi Crimes is my favorite Chevelle album. There is not one bad track along the entire length, and in my opinion, is one of the greatest alternative rock albums of its era.

Melodic, heavy but aimed perfectly like a paintbrush and their lyrics are waaay deeper than most numetal or alt bands. Aliens, curses, love, family drama, drug abuse, politics, religion, and some is very clever.

Anyhoo, let an underdog of the 2000's have another listen. I love Chevelle. Great band with good integrity and it seems like a good dose of humility.

I did the whole xcaddy routine with the plugin and I moved it into /usr/bin and it works, displays my site, but I'm not blocking anything. I've edited and edited and restarted and I can't see the issue. My config matches many similar ones online. I figure someone might spot my blunder in my config, so here it is.

A thief flags you down, grabs your phone and makes you unlock it using your thumb.

A cop opens the cop car door, grabs your hand and unlocks your phone, or even easier, face unlock.

Granted, guns and torture are rather effective as well, but is anyone entirely against fingerprint unlocking?

There's a lot to choose from. I use KeepassDX. Wondering about the others.

Also, how does the Matrix room work? I tried to join and it wouldn't let me through. Is it being maintained?

Got the parts to fix my air conditioner in my car, and a used phone, and a retro handheld I had been putting off.

All used, of course. I'm not contributing back to this corrupt hell government.

I've got quite a lot of rice and beans saved up, and some canned goods and I'm a mechanic by trade, 2nd least likely to die in an Apocalypse scenario, 1st being Doctors, of course.

I'm rural and have running water just a short walk from the property if the well stops pumping and I've got an old revolver with a few rounds in case I feel like checking-out early.

You guys?
