Ok, I gotta agree with your statement! lol

whose entire premis is built around preemptive bans (i think ‘pleasant politics’ is one.

Yep, he has a bot (santabot or some shit) and he pre-emptive bans anyone that has even been downvoted a few times about any subject over all of Lemmy. LMAO. Guy's a dick about it too. He tried to report me for ban evasion for posting to his comm, but I had no idea I was even banned from there.

So a bunch of people pointed out that his bot doesn't notify of bans, and that how is it ban evasion if they don't know they've been banned from there. He said he didn't care. lmao

[–] UniversalMonk 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

But if you don't like AI art, and downvote them without commenting, then why does it matter if you are banned from the AI communities? I mean, you don't wanna be there anyway, right? So why not block them so you don't have to see them in the first place?

[–] UniversalMonk 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yeah, man, that sucks. Sorry this is happening to you. And it'll probably happen for a little bit longer, so brace yourself. The same kind of person (I actually suspect it's same guy) stalked me on Lemmy for a full 6 months before they finally stopped. So don't let it knock you off of Lemmy or knock you off of your sobriety journey.

Stay strong, brother! You got this!

And OP's posted the most vile and hateful transphobic comments under their other accounts that were banned. Even attacked the mods efforts to overcome alcoholism.

[–] UniversalMonk 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

We all know who ya are and what you're doing. YDM

The fact that you are so pissed and so obsessed that you make up alt names just to hassle someone who banned you, is fascinating to me.

What are you like in real life? Like, how much do you lose your shit when you're at McDonald's and someone messes up your order? Are you that creepy guy who threatens to burn the place down because you counted the fries and decided there weren't enough in the bag?

I'd 100 percent watch the documentary about your stalking behavior. But please post it on Peertube instead of Youtube, cuz Youtube is a capitalist hellhole. Thanks in advance.

Goldman and de Cleyre maintained a lifelong friendship and respect for one another even though their beliefs differed greatly. de Cleyre explained these differences succinctly in her 1894 essay In Defense of Emma Goldmann and the Right of Expropriation:

"Miss Goldmann is a communist; I am an individualist. She wishes to destroy the right of property, I wish to assert it. … But whether she or I be right, or both of us be wrong, of one thing I am sure; the spirit which animates EMMA GOLDMAN is the only one which will emancipate the slave from his slavery, the tyrant from his tyranny — the spirit which is willing to dare and suffer."

This article shows Santa Muerte as a deeply meaningful, inclusive spiritual icon. Especially for the poor, the undocumented, LGBTQ individuals, sex workers, and others marginalized by both the state and the Catholic Church.

excerpt:

In the early years of my research, few people in Mexico would talk to me about her, and few in the US knew of her; she was either underground or unknown. Now, the Bony Lady is “out” and very visible. Since early 2000, worship has grown dramatically in Mexico and in the US, especially among migrants. I came to understand her popularity among migrants and LGBTQ communities in Mexico; she is associated with those living precarious lives and/or engaged in dangerous undertakings.

I think some of their opinions are interesting, and it’s not like they’re posting illegal content. When you see it's Breitbart, you already know what you're in for. There are plenty of left-leaning propaganda sites disguised as news too. It’s not unique to the right.

What really frustrates me is the lack of popular socialist news outlets. I wish we had more of them, so I post what I can from the few that exist.

I’m not mad that Breitbart is popular, I’m mad that socialist sites aren’t just as popular or well-funded. That’s the real issue for me.

I still stand by the fact that I think extremism on both sides of the duo-centric political spectrum erode free thought and free speech. I've always believed, and said, that Lemmy should be open to a diversity of opinion, even conservatives. Even if I don't agree with everything they say, I see no reason that people shouldn't be allowed to post their articles.

I'm a libertarian socialist, as I’ve said many times, and I’ve posted far more links to socialist, anarchist, and libertarian articles than to conservative ones. I haven’t written any conservative articles, I’ve only shared links

But I have written original socialist content.

So again, if the logic is that I’m a conservative simply because I’ve posted links to conservative viewpoints, then shouldn’t that same logic apply to the hundreds of socialist and anarchist posts I’ve shared?

Not only have I linked to leftist content, I’ve also written original articles for Lemmy about socialism, supported digital piracy, and highlighted the work and biographies of lesser-known but respected socialists and anarchists.

If I were truly conservative, why would I put so much effort into promoting socialist and anarchist causes in a positive light?

The reality is that I see value in diversity of opinions. And I'm shocked that an educated audience like Lemmy's are so opposed to that.

It's an awesome instance, from what I've seen of it so far!

Let's Have a Look (written by Universal Monk)

Every night, I'd hear my daughter giggling in her room, whispering to the “thing in the closet” she swears protects her from monsters.

Tonight, when I opened the closet to prove it was empty, I found a note in her handwriting: Don’t trust the one pretending to be Daddy.

Ash (written by Universal Monk)

She clung to him tightly, her tear-streaked, ash-covered cheeks pressed against his chest as she loved him for being so good to her.

But as she looked up into his beautiful, kind eyes, she knew she’d still have to burn him alive and watch his house collapse into flames, just like all the others hiding in plain sight.

The Tomorrow Thief (written by Universal Monk)

“Ready?” the technician asked, his voice flat over the humming console.

Charlie Newburry’s mouth went dry. He nodded, eyes clamped shut, heart hammering. “What’ll I see?”

“Nothing wild,” the man said. “Ferns, maybe birds. Ninety seconds back, tops.”

Everything went dark. Charlie’s stomach plummeted. “I’m not ready!” he screamed, eyes flying open.

Steaming earth, swaying ferns, air thick with rot.

A guttural snarl froze his blood. He spun around to face a saber-toothed tiger. It pounced, fangs sinking into his throat, blood gushing over prehistoric dirt.

As his vision dimmed, birds erupted skyward, shrieking, their wings blotting out the sun.

I know it might seem narcissistic, but I honestly created it as nerdcore because that’s my genre. It’s not really self-promotion since I don’t make any money from it.

Mod, please let me know if it's out of line to post a song about myself here.

Song lyrics:

Echoes through the net, it's the mad mad monk, Spreading words like fire, get ready for the funk.

Everyone’s so mad at me, think I'm here to destroy Lemmy, But can't you see, don’t hate the messenger, I'm just free.

Banned for speaking my choice, voice loud and clear, Posting what I believe, but all they do is sneer.

I just post the articles, no seeds I sow, Downvote if you disagree, just let it go. Who cares who won or not, no need for dismay, You got your panties in a knot, I’ll say what I say.

I’m the one they call Universal Monk, Not leaving, so feel free to call me a punk.

It's the fediverse, losers, welcome to the show, Here to stay, I'm never ever gonna go.

I’ll post where I want, whenever I desire, Your group think can't douse this fire.

Banned for letting you hear my stance, In this digital dance, I still advance.

You try to ban, but here I stand, Universal Monk, all across the land.

Alt names, alt instances, shifting like sand, In the fediverse, freedom's my brand.

I’m the one they call Universal Monk, Not leaving, so feel free to call me a punk. It's the fediverse, losers, welcome to the show, Here to stay, I'm never ever gonna go.

Threads to silence, voices to suppress, But in this chaos, I confess, My words are mine, this truth I own, Through every alt, my presence grown.

Under this name or another, roaming free, No one said Lemmy had to agree.

One voice, one choice? No, I dissent, With every post, my message sent.

I’m the one they call Universal Monk, Not leaving, so feel free to call me a punk. It's the fediverse, losers, welcome to the show, Here to stay, I'm never ever gonna go.

So listen up, hear my decree, In the fediverse, I’m forever free.

For Lemmy all across the digital seas, I'm Universal Monk, I do as I please.

A Bug (written by Universal Monk)

Tommy Farell woke up to a faint scratching in his left ear, like a nail scraping bone.

He shook his head, thinking it was wax, but the sound grew. Skittering around, alive.

“The fuck?” His fingers probed, finding nothing, yet the noise turned to a wet, clicking churn.

By midnight, his ear burned, a pulse of heat spreading to his jaw. He stumbled to the bathroom, tilting his head under the light.

A black leg, thin as a hair, twitched from the canal. His scream choked as the thing burrowed deeper, its whispers now words in his skull: We’re home.

I posted a harmless article about stalking and got banned within seconds, so I messaged the mod to ask why.

He replied with a photo of me sitting at my desk, taken just moments ago, from inside my apartment.

That Good Dinner (written by Universal Monk)

“Looks weird,” the little boy said as he poked it with a fork.

His mom rubbed his shoulders. “It’s just fish. Eat it.”

He took a bite. Then another. It tasted better than anything he could remember. Going hungry can do that to a person.

“Put your plate away, it’s time for bed.”

The next morning, the boy woke up to the sound of his mother crying.

“What’s wrong, Mommy?”

“We ate blowfish,” she said as she stroked his thick black hair. “But I must have cooked it too long. The poison must have disappeared. Now we’ll be hungry again.”

Shattered Self (written by Universal Monk)

The attic smelled of mildew and decay. My flashlight caught Sarah, her face a pulpy ruin, eyes gouged, leaking viscous red.

“It’s in the mirror,” she gurgled, clawing at her shredded lips.

I turned, heart hammering. The mirror showed me, but my reflection grinned, teeth jagged, flesh peeling like wet wallpaper. “You can’t leave,” it rasped, voice mine but wrong. I smashed the glass, shards slicing my knuckles bloody.

The room darkened. My reflection stood behind me, whole, smiling. “You’re already gone,” it said.

I touched my face. It was cold, smooth glass. Sarah’s corpse laughed, her voice now mine.
