Space Griffon VF9 -for the PlayStation 1
It was a mech combat on the moon game, with great voice acting that turned into a space horror game very slowly over the course of the storyline until you were scared of every room down every hallway and would hear the screams of the thing hunting you in your dreams.
If we don't make changes, it is catastrophic.
Saying the ship you're on is taking in water and likely going to sink, is still a very important piece of information to communicate, even if nobody has a bilge pump on hand.
Some people are ignoring the evidence of water pouring into the holds of our ship and screaming that we're not sinking, and that's causing a lot of confusion. Confusion that's keeping us from coordinating properly on how best to keep the ship afloat.
Even if we don't manage to save the ship, keeping it floating as long as possible gives us more opportunities to be rescued.
Maybe they increase the likelihood weight of ads you'll see from headphone companies, or groups in that space.
It's also just straight up a datapoint about you that someone out there will pay Facebook to collect so they can profile you and upsell you on more shit.
That's how all this crap works unfortunately.
Plus, people should really understand how someone being a billionaire works. They don't have billions of dollars sitting in a bank account somewhere.
They leverage their investments to take out short term loans or the like against their invested capital.
Musk is a billionaire on paper. Like most. His wealth is represented by his ownership shares of Tesla, speculation on the valuation of space x and solar city.
He's not selling his interests or shares in Tesla to buy things here. He's leveraging them.
Similar to how you can have your house paid off, and then get a new mortgage against your house for an injection of capital. You're leveraging the equity you have in your home. Which is based on the current perceived value of your home in the current market.
If the market changes drastically, so does the amount you can leaverage.
TL;DR; he does not have cash sitting around he can burn through to actually pay bills, and he's absolutely not going to pay his Google cloud hosting bill with his Tesla shares unless absolutely forced to (at which point he'd probably just sell Twitter).
Textbook hubris.
His blog post will be another cautionary tale to tell in the near future.
Ultimately, people are selfish.
Whatever meta promised him is worth him selling out of his scruples to the community.
I don't hate him for that, but the dude should at least have the balls to be honest with us that that's what's happening here.
Meta joining the fediverse is not a good thing for the fediverse. To say otherwise is to invite ruin.
The whole XMPP was used by nerds thing really showed how full of hubris he is, agreed.
This is going to end in a disaster, and this blog post from him will be linked at for decades to come to try and warn the next generation the next time we need to do something like this.
And the cycle will repeat.
It's an old trick from soldiers
Took me a while to find a client i liked (wefwef) and understand how subscriptions with the fediverse works, but now that i do, it's a pretty awesome experience.
In donating monthly to the Mastadon.world Patreon and I couldn't be happier to be doing it.
Absolutely this.
I've used Jerboa and it was decent, but really lacked consistency or a ui that worked.
Wefwef and connect are my two favorites at the moment.
well, it is, but it's like saying EA is less awful than Monsanto
Absolutely terrifying read.
