So Sachen für Propaganda raushauen und sie dann auch wirklich machen ist schon noch ein Unterschied.
Und ich mache mir jetzt da keine falschen Vorstellungen, in den nächsten Monaten werden durch militärische Aktionen von Israel, hunderte wenn nicht tausende von palästinensischen Zivilisten sterben werden. Dazwischen und der kompletten Zerstörung des Gazastreifens mit seinen 2 Millionen Einwohner ist aber noch schon ein ziemlicher Unterschied.
Alleine schon weil ich selbst der USA nicht zutraue, dass die bei sowas einfach zuschauen.
Ich glaube nicht, dass es im Interesse von Israel ist offensichtlichen Genozid zu verüben.
Weil das ja bisher immer so toll geklappt hat. Aber ja, wird wohl wieder auf sowas hinaus laufen.

You would need to get rid of the "first past the pole" system anyway to allow for other parties to have an actual chance. As soon as that's done, more parties can easily be done.
But well, the people who would need to make that happen are the same people who currently benefit from the system as it is.

Ist alles eine Frage der Einstellung. Der Begriff Diktator kommt schliesslich aus dem alten Rom und da hat das Konzept verdammt lange gut funktioniert. Aber auch da war es natürlich viel einfacher die Leute von der Gefahr der Barbaren welche Rom aktiv bedrohen zu überzeugen als von der "leider" nicht direkt spürbaren Gefahr des Klimawandels.
Aber das spielt eh keine Rolle, da wir heute einfach gar nicht mehre diese Auffassung von diesem Konzept haben. Sowohl in der Bevölkerung als auch bei den Leuten welche die Rolle potentiell besetzten könnten.
Vielleicht muss es auch erst hinreichend schlimm werden, dass die breite Masse der Bevölkerung die Dringlichkeit des Handelns am eigenen Leib erfährt…
Darauf wird es wohl leider hinaus laufen und dann ist es auch schon viel zu spät um das schlimmste abzuwenden. Ich bin wirklich nicht schade, dass ich keine Kinder zeugen werde, denn die Zukunft sieht düster aus. Vor allem wenn man es mit der Zeit vergleicht in der ich als Kind der 80er Jahre aufgewachsen bin.
First of all I really wouldn't put much weight on the voting results in an area where Hamas uses violence for decades to keep in power. Especially if there isn't any semblance of a modern democratic state such as regular(!!) elections, freedom of speech and a free press. A 1-2 generation long youth indoctrination like the Nazis did also really doesn't create an educated and politically mature population.
And of course 53% still leaves a huge amount of people who aren't in favour. Not to mention that there is a 70+ year long ongoing conflict which has left pretty much no one in Gaza (or Israel for that matter) who doesn't know someone getting hurt or killed by the opposing side's actions. It's hardly surprising that there's hard feeling (major understatement) in a lot of people.
And lastly we certainly wouldn't want to use public opinion as justification for killing civilians. That's the reasoning the likes of Osama bin Laden do to justify shit like 9/11.
TL;DR: This conflict is complicated as hell and basically a self fueling cycle of hatred where even the good side is acting very shitty a lot of times.
