In a totally unrelated note, https://msty.app/ is extremely easy to use and runs the LLM locally. Good choices are Llama 3.2; Granite; Deepseek r1; Dolphin 3… can run on Nvidia, Apple and cpu. They say AMD too and know how to since November but it’s not working. Not as friendly but https://lmstudio.ai/ runs on just about any hardware.

It’s a computer, after all. But if you want to try it… don’t expect too much: a simple game, VERY pixelated by the time I’ve reduced the resolution enough was enough to make it barely hit 60fps. A cool experiment, but not much more…

The weirdest thing so far has been setting up Steam VR with ALVR because I could. And it technically works XD

I have Zigbee stuff. Here’s what I like about that: they bridge between each other (if they’re powered rather than battery operated) and that extends the range. The range can be great to begin with! They’re not on my network, adding confusion or load on the access points, plus they can’t phone home… all local. Then there’s smart switches, and I’m going to point out that without WiFi they can’t be controlled, but Zigbee? Sure, I can easily power cycle my router and access points with Zigbee smart plugs! In fact I have an automation to do that daily. Finally, if something is WiFi you can’t know in advance if it’s cloud based or not, and regardless of that it’s a potentially unsafe device that is connected to the internet. Low power, but botnets work with numbers rather than power.

Opinion: if you go in chronological order, the age and quality will progress nicely, rather than jumping all around if you start with one then go back and do that sort of thing.

Agreed 100%, I’m happy with my 4th quarter 64gb Deck (after the ssd upgrade XD ), however choice and diversity is good. If Windows is considered a selling point, and a Linux version would have to be a separate SKU, reducing availability? Giving the option to buy the single Windows SKU, and maybe downloading an official tool that installs Linux with all the necessary drivers would be better than having to justify a separate, likely less popular SKU. Plus while neither of us is interested in the Ally, other people will have different tastes. Let companies make all shapes and performance/price options for everyone :D

I pointed out that the OS, trackpads and ergonomics are my main focus. Honestly, more Linux devices would be a win! Even if it ships with Windows but there’s an easy, official way to get Linux on the thing that’d be great.

I say “”””yes”””” you might disagree. Here’s my findings https://startrek.website/comment/13646875

I wanted to shit on Lenovo because when I bought my laptop last year they had no Linux laptops (anymore) and specifically an article on how to install Linux links to one that just explains what an OS is… but I actually double checked before posting and it’s looking promising! There’s a list of “best laptops for Linux” including the Mr Moneybags version of mine, and a bunch of FAQ that looks very much not Microsoft approved. So that’s a good sign.

It honestly depends on a few factors. Mostly… what games are you planning to play? There’s stuff that can last for 5-8 hours with the Deck battery alone. Here’s a good bit of information: mentions both a maximum of 100wh on power banks and how to calculate wh from volts and ah (V * Ah). So assuming the usual 3.6v power bank the maximum you can carry is a 27000mAh one.

The usual warnings apply: check in advance with your airline, rules and regulations vary around the world and so on.

When I got my current printer I considered a Mini… thankfully it was too bulky to replace the MonoPrice Select Mini, and I ended up replacing that and the Ender 3 with a Sovol SV07 Plus. Looks like it was a lucky choice!

Thanks! I’ll have to find a way to “pitch” this but that’s interesting.

As per the title, you can just Side Quest the apk, open it, do the login, connect a Bluetooth controller and enjoy. It’s just a big screen, but it’s nice. Also very, very easy to do! I remember when doing this for Stadia it required fiddling a little and, crucially as it was before the support for Bluetooth controllers, Stadia was the only option because the controller was WiFi lol.

As a bonus you could install a browser (here’s my pick https://vivaldi.com/android/ ) and in the future just download apk with that.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t see it was cold war only and kinda started to dread an invasion of Swedish cheese wedges…

I think the highlight here, and something that lacks a separate article, is the two weeks of On Track for the Chinese heavy line. Always the best time to grind a line when it’s On Track!

Neat stuff! The rare GuP Panzer IV H is going to be available again and there’s new commanders related to that. This one holds some sentimental value to me, as the event to earn it (close to the launch of the PS4 version) was what actually got me into the game!

Personal experience: the STA-2 is very squishy, but a great tank with PMM. The Senshi (together with the black edition) is great because you also get camouflage by default.

Mildly excited about the TD, however now we’re going to have a Type 5 heavy, medium and TD…

Ah, the Rudy… I remember when they announced it, pc had it for some time now, and their dog barked on reload. Ours, was confirmed to not bark. This was before we got custom commander voices. Anyway they got lots of complaints, and they scrambled to get the dog to bark in time for the launch of the bundle! It was a success and probably the basis for all the custom voices we have now, but initially it also started a string of random sound issues. Once we had tanks without engine noise. Another time everyone in the team would know someone on the team had a very specific, unholy loud tank. Fun times.

You good folks produce so many memes that my phone now can recognize nearly the entire cast of all Star Trek…

There’s also a premium and a bunch of Dune themed stuff to buy. Seems like we’re slightly behind PC, are we going to get TMNT stuff next?

As an aside, I really need to figure out how to get the news timely, this particular one for example just slipped away.
