That is not bad advice

You want to listen to your body because it tells you way more things than just feeling hungry. That is a gross simplification of that suggestion, almost assuming human bodies are machines.

Bad advice in this context is saying "you are gonna be happier if you lost weight" or "you are gonna look better if you lost weight". That is extremely personal and changes person to person, some might even feel worse.

Listening to a doctor's concerns is for everyone with no exclusions, but feeling good in oneself's body is another different topic that needs to be tackled appropriately.

Has anyone found sources for the alleged development builds for PC made for the two games outside of mentions on Twitter that it exists?

The bottom part of a Elite Trainer Box is covered in some sort of fake leather. Is it just plastic?

This is how GET works, every single parameter is visible regardless of meaning.

How about https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/clearurls/ ? I use it on default settings. There is a chance you can set it up to clear StarPage's GET variables too.

But if there is an actual setting to use exclusively GET parameters by StartPage, they will just be populated again.

I am playing Iter Vehemens ad Necem, in short IVAN, on Winlator.

Is a ~25 years old rogue-like game that uses MIDI as background music. Sound efffects are instead wave files. MIDI files are just a series of notes a sound card plays back with its internal musical instruments, much like a digital music sheet. Modern audio cards no longer have true support for this now ancient audio format (still used to this day actually, but only on specific music production devices), and desktop systems can run software based MIDI emulators to still hear this sounds (modern Windows has one preinstalled that is invoked automatically when MIDI is played)

Sound effects work just fine, but there is no background music when running this game as it detects no MIDI devices. I need a way to get a software MIDI emulator running under Winlator, maybe even the default modern Windows one.

Yes, but Microsoft will just give you the latest one via Windows Update regardless of suggestions

Modern Windows update also include BIOS updates by your manufacturer.

Resolved

Used DODI's repack instead. Installed it using Lutris and left all to default settings.

Using LinuxRuleZ repack on Steam Deck.

Running the boot script takes a very long time, until an error is presented claiming "kernel32.dll" cannot be found (meaning of c0000135 in Microsoft's error codes documentation) and the script seems to then fully freeze with no CPU usage.

You mean the Gamecube one?

The glue one was proven to be just a troll comment on Reddit from 12 years ago, and it fact some more were found to be just basing itsself on Reddit. Fine in theory, but did absolutely no proof check with other sources and so just took trolls as facts.

Nope, this was real.

Google's new search AI did many errors at release. This can be found online and include but not limited to:

  • It's normal for cockroaches to live in someone's penis
  • You should mix some glue while preparing a pizza
  • Overcoming depression is done by jumping off the Golden State Bridge
  • You should eat one small rock daily

This was fixed manually per search topic that got viral, but they probably changed its configuration by now to trust reddit amd 4chan comments less.

I've tried base Wine and Wine-GE under Lutris.

Base Wine has the issue I mentioned in the title, where the game would play no sound apart from the menu music and the in-game commentary (meaning the menu movements don't do any sound, and during a match you don't hear the ball kicks and the referee whistle).

Lutris fully breaks audio with it's default settings. You need to disable fsync and esync to make the audio return (yet, it acts like base wine still)

DXVK has no effect as the game uses DirectX 8, meaning it's running under WineD3D.

A Reddit post mentions extracting the following DLLs from a DirectX8.1 installer and applying a override to use them, but doing so on my end just mutes the game: "dmime.dll dmsynth.dll dmloader.dll dmusic.dll dsound.dll dsdmo.dll"

Using DgVoodoo has no effects on this issue.
