Despite the protests, Reddit's Huffman has persisted in arguing that Reddit is "a living organism, this democratic living organism, created by its users."

No way can a democratic society last under a corporatocracy which, by default, is essentially a dictatorship. And corporatocracy is exactly what Huffman is pushing.

Y’know, it’s highly hypocritical that the article mentions the reason for the API shutoff is to force users to pay for the content while redditcorp doesn’t pay for the content users generate that reddit wants those same users to pay to access.

I acknowledge english has many confusing and contrary facets, but I must counter with why do other languages assign gender to things and make others neutral? A car could be female, the muffler neutral, and the window glass male.

Also, I don’t have much to offer regarding adjectives other than it doesn’t matter. The human brain is capable of sorting both “the car blue” and “the blue car” just fine.

I dunno… at this point it’s like hearing stories about your crazy ex and kinda enjoying at what a dumpster fire s/he has become.

"Come on, Cohaagen. You got what you want. Give those people air."

Wow. Reading the heavyhanded corporate plays by people like musk, Reddit’s c-suite, and now the fears about Threads it’s like the corporatocracy is trying to crush and/or consume independent social media.

It’s falling apart over there. They’re attacking and threatening subs literally for following the rules. /pics, /military, and others.

I get to enforce my version of politeness, that version being implied violence against anyone I disagree with.

Yep. Not as busy as r/, but that also means a lot less noise. Really enjoying seeing the old communities reappear in their original or new, fresh forms along with some crazy new stuff that we’ll just have to see if it sticks. Sure, this ‘verse has some frustrations like needing multiple accounts for instances and some minor browsing issues, but otherwise it’s great.

And this is why I laugh at libertarians. They always seem to think markets wouldn’t do potentially damaging things to themselves or customers, but history always points to profit as the driving factor, and if harm can happen alongside profits, so be it.

Enjoyed this movie far more than I thought I would. Her character by far is the best written and CGM does a great job voicing her. Really steals the show. Weakest part of it is the beginning that falls to the trope of “if the main character was simply able to form a complete sentence we probably would have a much shorter film”.

Unfortunately for me I keep getting “problem fetching more posts” on ios. Works great on my desktop, though.
